And FWIW both Diaz and Dubon played 1B earlier this year and it was reported that they were not happy with how they played.

Diaz has like 60 ab against lefties. Not a large sample size.

 

Abreu has been a butcher all year, but now it's an issue.

 

Last season the Astros became the only team in MLB history to be talented enough to win it all despite having Dusty Baker as their manager.

I fear they aren't good enough to overcome him this year.

If they had a halfway competent manager I'd be a lot more optimistic about their chances, but that's one hell of an anchor around their neck they have to overcome

I seem to remember dusty saying it's because Verlander is a fly all pitcher and dubon has the better arm.
Something about keeping runners from tagging up and getting extra bases

 

Most of last year the Astros were comfortably in first place so it didn't matter as much. Just on poor lineups alone, I'm sure wins have been lost. I truly believe the team would already be in first place in the division if better lineups were played more consistently. These shitty lineups have hurt much more this year for obvious reasons that have been rehashed all year.

I just don't like the idea of a personal CF when that CF is worse than the other 2 you have defensively. Personal catchers can be important for a pitcher for obvious reasons but I think it's ridiculous for a pitcher to a have a personal CF. thought so last year too
