A showdown between the two seemed unlikely as DeSantis ramped up his presidential campaign. But Newsom still has spent months trying to entice his counterpart into joining him on a stage.

On Wednesday, DeSantis agreed, telling Fox News’ Sean Hannity: “Absolutely I’m game. Just tell me when and where.”

An aide to Newsom told POLITICO that the governor was also in. Newsom’s office had sent a formal request offer to Fox News last week with proposed debate dates of Nov. 8 or Nov. 10. That request called for Hannity to serve as the sole moderator for a 90-minute forum on Fox News that would not include an in-studio audience and would air live.​

Terrible. Crime is rampant, the city is poor so the police department is underfunded and understaffed. Literacy is an issue (which is crazy to me in the 21st century). Homelessness is a big issue. It's also brutally hot in the summer. Everything is expensive. It's home though, so I will always have a fondness for it. The food is good, the weather is good most of the year, and there are a lot of great people. It is also close to everything. Lake Tahoe is 3 hours away, Santa Cruz is 2 hours away, LA is 5.5 hours away, and you can get to boating, hiking, camping, skiing, surfing, etc. all in less than 2 hours drive.

Santa Cruz has some issues, mainly with homelessness and drugs. The Boardwalk is still pretty nice, especially during the day. There has been some gang violence there, but it isn't nearly as bad as more inland places. Prices have gotten pretty insane. 30 years ago, you could get a year pass for unlimited rides for like 40 bucks. Now it's 120. Still a great time and a chill atmosphere though. Tough to beat a theme park right on the beach.
