Man if graveman can be the graveman we had. I like our bullpen with graveman, neris, Abreu in high leverage situations before presley. Maton is not a bad option in the 6th ish inning role also.
That's because they were not good. Their pitching will give you a chance. Only team I fear in the AL is Toronto that's just because Springer will do something crazy and annoying.
Yes, those 2 runs in 11 postseason innings was terrible. And the 2 runs in 10.2 innings in September/October regular season games was bad as well. Perhaps you were thinking of that 1 game in late August where he gave up 4 runs.
To be fair, he did pitch kinda poorly in the regular season with that 1.39 WHIP. He did pitch better in the playoffs though.
I remember him making everyone very nervous when he was called on. Missed the zone, ran up deep counts, gave up hits and walked a bunch of batters at the end of the season. Wasn't nearly as dominant as he showed in Seattle.
Springer went without a hit in four at-bats Tuesday against the Baltimore Orioles, extending his futility streak to 34 straight plate appearances. Springer has just one hit in his last 43 at-bats, having last recorded a hit on July 22 against the Seattle Mariners. In eight games since, he's reached base three times on walks/hit by pitch, managing to score two runs. Springer's slump has seen him moved out of the leadoff spot in the lineup, a position he's spent most of his career in.
Springer and Correa signings have largely been a disaster. We dodged a couple of bullets there. We chose to keep Altuve and that's worked out pretty damn well. We will choose to keep Bregman and that too will turn out well. Tucker we will try our damndest and I think he's worth the risk. The dude is literally never injured. And now he's built a consistency factor to go along with his availability. That in and of itself makes it worth the risk. McCullers, JV and Montero will be off the books, that's $47 million right there.
IIRC the rub with Graveman was that he could not be pitched in back to back games. The reason was something something converting from starter to reliever something something.
For the few that forget. Take a stroll down playoff memory lane. Nothing came easy with this guy. Like I said, I just want the Seattle version of him. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/search/123029460/?q=graveman&t=post&o=relevance&c[thread]=313362 https://bbs.clutchfans.net/search/123031229/?q=graveman&t=post&o=relevance&c[thread]=313271
Graveman in Seattle was basically Stanek last season. They had their career season. Graveman's overall production is closer to Montero -- guys who've had a couple great seasons but have otherwise been pedestrian -- than Pressly.
can we talk Rangers here? Matt getting his ass lit up currently. there should be like a miscellaneous baseball thread.
