And, knowing that, does anyone think the Astros shouldn't have traded for Gerrit Cole? Does anyone think the Astros regret trading for Cole? Also, he wasn't a prospect when he was traded. He had already been with the Astros for the previous 2 seasons.
Quick question. Considering the Mets will likely be paying the luxury tax next year and possibly in 2025. Are they essentially spending an extra 30-50% on the buyout? That really is a lot of money.
Astros could stand to shop LMJ, Urquidy, Garcia, possibly France to all 29 teams this winter and take the biggest haul. Maybe even two of them.
I wonder if they had concerns with his height in center. Most centerfielders are fairly tall. Chaz seems somewhat short at 6' 0 while gilbert is 5'9.
Just saw Bregman’s interview from a couple hours ago talking about JV coming back…dude couldn’t stop smiling the entire time and kept talking about how fired up him and the team are after the trade.
We know he's healthy and on his game. There's a ton more clarity now. And, the Mets are footiing much of the bill. "It's good to be the king."
Gilbert and Clifford is obviously a hefty price but we just acquired future HOFer for crying out loud. We’re going for it! What more could you want? I remember when I learned about the Beltran trade (with John Buck…) and remember being so happy just to seeing us go after a big-time, premier name. No Jason Jennings, Woody Williams, half-ass upgrades…but a STAR This reminds me of that. Yea, our prospects could go on to have long, fruitful careers. We’ve seen Hader do just that. But if it gets us any discernible chance closer to another ring then you jump on it. I don’t care that we didn’t sign him in the off-season. We didn’t know our staff would get as decimated as it did. What important is JV is back and slots in perfectly. Framber can go back to no. 2, and the extra stress from our staff immediately alleviates as everyone goes back into their role they know they can thrive in. WERE BACK!!!
Mets are in KC. I guess Verlander can just go back to his place in NY now and wait for the Astros to arrive to play the Yankees.
So the Astros, a very close second place team in their division, added Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Justin Verlander at the trade deadline?
