So Sengun wins finals MVP in '26 and he doesn't even start?

Somebody please tell me we're getting a new color guy this year. I really want to watch the games, but the guy is insufferable.

Sengun will join the national team in the next days.

He will play friendly and elimination games for the Olympic Games with the Turkish National Team.

    Source, me.

How anyone can watch his play from last year and not think he is a franchise altering player is mind-boggling to me. The man has vision skill passion and he's the kind of player that will make others significantly better than they really are. I think we will see a drop off from kenyon Martin Jr this year because he has no big man like ALP next to him.

That being said, the nuggets went all in on Jokic even before he started improving his defense, the rockets don't seem to want to go all in on Sengun, this year will be a big year.

Annoying for us Rockets fans, but understandable. They must have pressured him. I just hope he won't get hurt.

Yes, he was under a lot of pressure from some d*ckheads in the Turkish basketball media. Even i hate to see it as a Turkish basketball fan. The Rockets fans must be frustrated.

Yeah that was the first thought I had too, shame that he's another overseas player getting pressured into playing through the offseason, but at least we may get a little preseason glimpse of how he's developed over the summer. Hopefully won't be too difficult to find a feed/stream.

What do you consider franchise altering? Usually there are somewhere between 6 and 8 franchise players in the league at any given time.

Maybe it's subjective but I'm in agreement here. When I think "franchise altering" I think of a player that can singlehandedly turn a team around. A player with such immense talent that he's changing the outcome of every game just by being on the court. An absolutely game wrecker.

Sengun is nice. VERY nice. But I don't see him as that level player right now. No one one the Rockets it that level player right now. Sengun might get there. Green might get there. Hell, Amen might get there. But it's not guarantee for anyone.

Anyone that’s a franchise player is a no brainer automatic first ballet HOF that should be perennially in mvp consideration and all nba first team consideration

A player that changes the course of a team's outlook. Sengun to me is a Jokic type player. Jokic on a team that doesn't utilize him as the central hub isn't an MVP. I think Sengun this year if used as a central hub is an all star and shows the trajectory to being an MVP in the league. I think the skillset is there.

But he has to be the central option. If he's used as he's been the last two years, well never know his true potential until he's trad e.

I don't think anybody does. The idea for some is he has the potential to be and he won't get there if you don't get invested on him to maximize the potential.

I also think he has that kind of potential and should (and could) have been explored more past season without getting too much invested. Let’s see what ime does with him.

one good sign with Sengun, so far he verified that you can’t hold back great players. If he is gonna be great, this year should be the big year to show the big leap that everybody except haters gets on the train.

I'm curious to see how a coaching change from the top down impacts Sengun. The Nuggets figured out what they had in Jokic pretty quickly and changed their style accordingly. The Rockets leadership since Sengun arrived has been terrible. It could be as simple as they're not using him correctly.

However, I'd be remiss in not playing Devil's Advocate in saying that we've heard the "He's not being used correctly, and would be MVP-All Star, Scoring Champ, NBA Champ if it wasn't for coaching" argument before for more than a few players. I know at least a few members remember those days.

Ya if you view him as having an almost certain chance of being a top 10 all time guy and possibly a top 3-5 guy then he’s definitely a franchise player. I think it’s ludicrous and the Jokic comparisons as absurd but would be cool to be wrong

You're not wrong. I just feel like a big with this scoring skillset and playmaking is a rarity compared to the athletic skilled wings. But we will learn a lot this year.
