Post season struggles but struggles mostly in World Series right? Maybe it was due to fatigue. This season he started late because of injury? Maybe he'll still be fresh in the post season and and if they get there, hopefully fresh in world series. Also perhaps he choked in World Series because he could never get that win. Well he has 1 from last year. Hopefully that takes away the pressure and he's his usual self. But 1st they have to get there. Hopefully more moves to come.
This is what the Astros do. They trade from a position that was a surplus to get what they need. Yes, it stings but Chas is here for 3 more years and Tucker 2 more. Crane wants the rings.
Gilbert is only an OK loss if they can resign Tucker. No for sure thing Gilbert ends up being a player but still stings none the less.
If the Mets are eating all of JV's contract, it's a fair deal. If they eat half, it's a bad deal but not horrible considering the market. IF they eat 25% or less, it's a really bad deal for Houston, and that's without considering they could have just signed his ass in the offseason. There's really no way this deal looks good/great for Houston.
It is very unlikely that the Astros re-sign Tucker. Drew Gilbert is really solid, but he has some limitations. By the time Tucker is gone, other players will be moved up.
They are still looking at pen arms but they are not as likely to get one of the big fish is my guess after losing their #1 and #3 prospect.
Bidding against the Mets keeping him. Neither Gilbert nor Clifford are Tucker or Yordan. This is a great deal, especially with the step Chas has taken to everyday starter and slugger.
I think it was a good deal if the Mets eat half the salary. Gilbert has some limitations, but should be a good big leaguer. Clifford is the better prospect IMO but he still has some contact issues and isn't in the higher levels. If the Mets eat 46 million and the Astros pay Verlander 46 million, I think that is a win for the Astros...... they will have money and means to fill holes this winter. The Mets could have started negotiating with the Dodgers again and likely gotten Verlander to accept a deal.
2 yard line! Bidding against the Mets keeping him/the amount of money we are getting back from them. Like- now that I see it was Gilbert and Clifford I want to hear that the option is fully converted to salary and the Mets are sending over like 75M of the 95M remaining. Jimbo crane is cheap. Everything about how he operates is encapsulated in tbis deal and it all screams cheap. This is not me saying he sucks or anything. It just is. man’s no- Tucker ain’t getting re-signed. Colin Barber better be really good.
The fact that that particular poster thinks it's a bad deal is all I need to know that it's a good deal.
