If we ultimately don't get JV today, I'll consider this a failure for Brown. He's not a rental. There have been few starters better than JV o in the month of July. THAT WAS THE POST I NEVER HIT THE SEND BUTTON FROM ABOUT 30 MINUTES AGO.
Losing Gilbert definitely stings, but if >.850 OPS Chas is here to stay that will take some of the sting out.

JV has had bad postseasons but the law of averages say he is due to rebound. I give up for any minor league to get him. Window is now. So much joy into this trade.
Cmon guys you get what you pay for. You can't go to the strip club expecting to bang the hottest stripper with 10 bucks. JV is fresh and iits worth the gamble. The only thing history remembers is how many rings you win
It looks like they did blink - although if I were a Mets fan I could argue we don't know what the Mets lowest demand really is. The Astros really got lucky that teams like Atlanta, LA and NY backed away - at the same time the Astros also played it well. Let's see how much the Mets paid on his contract.
the amount of people who can't process that gilbert isn't an automatic superstar (could even be a bust, who knows), we wouldn't need him till 2026, and are at the peak of our championship window between now and then, disheartens me.
