He will be alright, depends on how he matures and if he can control his mental impulses.

Well he has been doing that for multiple years now, and there are many guys who live on the edge in the NBA, as long as you have talent they will sign him.

    His reputation isn't that bad.

Im with you DD on the little to no separation between KPj and FVv.

People here wouldn't give KPj $43 mil per year but are pretending
that they are ok with FVv get that boat load.

    per NBA.com
    Pick-n-Roll (ball handler) 22/23:
    Player.....poss....freq.....PPP.....pts....FG%...eFG%
    FVv: ........8.1......40.8....0.96....7.7....42.2....49.3
    KPj: .........8.5......42.6....0.84....7.1....41.0....46.3

    Player......FT%....TOV%....( & 1 freq )....score freq....NBA percentile
    FVv: .......10.3.....12.2...........2.3.................41.4.................70.8
    KPj: ........10.0.....18.4...........2.6.................37.6.................42.8

So the numbers are practically the same last year.
I've noted how VanVleet assists jumped up after
    the addition of Poeltl.

FVv assists before (2/10/23) Poeltl: 6.5
FVv assists after (2/10/23) Poeltl: 8.6

If KPj had Poeltl, perhaps KPj would have been near 70 NBA percentile.
    ____________

    Deflections per game (22/23)
    FVv:
    3.8
    KPj: 2.4

I've noted how Nick Nurse ran a lot of def zone(s)....Rockets
did not. All those mobile 6'9" defenders allowed VanVleet
to play free safety in his area often. Allowed for more deflection
    opportunities.

I have more but I need to go to work.

    Basically VanVleet had Poeltl added
Siakim was an All Star last year
Scottie Barnes was rookie of the year over Jalen Green as teammate
    O.G. shot 39% from 3
Gary Trent jr shot 37% from 3

For KPj, Eric Gordon shot 34% while in Houston.

For those who say teammates don't matter, defenses didn't
have to guard anybody but EG while at Houston on his 5.2 attempts
per game......shot 42% from 3 while with the Clippers on approximately
the same amount of attempts (5.0).
[ was the only Rockets guarded closely ]

KPj was 6.2 assists in 21/22 with Houston while Eric Gordon shot
41% from 3 and C Wood shot 39%. Can space the defense better
when having two perimeter shooters spreading out the defense
    while shooting better than average

Strange, in the original post, from the moment I put FVv in dark blue
and KPj in dark red.....the site changed everything (text) to yellow-green.
Appeared normal at my end as I posted it. I didn't catch everything changed
to highlighter color until your reply.

From now on I will only use black and bold black. Thank you for the heads up.
@peleincubus mentioned something about dark mode a week prior.
I didn't realize all my text turned a yellow highlighter color.

I think people are going to be surprised just how big of a difference going from KPJ to FVV is going to make on both ends. KPJ is your textbook "empty stats guy", FVV is exactly the opposite, the box score doesn't tell anywhere close to the whole story.

FVV is a good decisionmaker who hustles and does all the little things for his teammates instead of just playing for himself.

Just be ready to fess up when you're wrong on this one.

Yes and regardless, the stats are not close. FVV's best season blows KPJ out of the water. Even FVV's worst season is slightly better than KPJ's best when you properly take into consideration half of the game is defense and only half of it is offense.

It's especially not close when you consider the all important stat: one ring vs never been to the playoffs. That may not be KPJ's fault, but it's a reality that matters.

How exactly are FVV's stats not empty when he led a very good group of players to a .500 record? What leadership, wow !

When you put text in black and dark black, dark mode can’t see it, because our background is black.

If you're going to use that argument, what does that say about KPJ who led the Rockets to a 22-60 record?

That the team sucked......and no one is saying it didn't....but I would bet you anything that if FVV was here last year, and KPJ in Toronto that KPJ would have had a better year than FVV in that environment and FVV would have struggled big time.

FVV with SIlas and those rookies would not make a difference, but KPJ with all those vets would.

I’m all for the belief we overpaid FVV and I’m all for the belief that he is not a high end difference maker. He’s a very good player.

It is lunacy to think KPJ is at or near his level of impact. The best we have seen from KPJ does not compare at all to FVV. The difference in rosters up to this point is not the predominant variable as to why their impacts in the league thus far are so different. 22 year old KPJ on Toronto last year would not have done a comparable job to what 28 year old FVV did. Too much inexperience for that to be realistic.

I would also be shocked if this changed in these next two guaranteed seasons of FVVs contract. In a few years when FVV is in his 30s and KPJ is entering his prime….possible, maybe even probable KPJ becomes comparable/overtakes FVV and might even surpass his peak. Just not yet.

Head honcho running point was a big part of that crappy environment. Let's see how he fares off ball.

I'm not sure KPJ starts for that Toronto team in that scenario. I think the offense would have run through Barnes and Siakam and they could go big. KPJ would have been fighting Malachi Flynn for minutes.
