How many championships do the Rays have? Ahh yeah, that's right zero. Hell the Dodgers barely have a real championship from 2020 and their last one was 1988 prior to that. I don't buy that **** HOMEBOY. Astros would have a better farm system if it weren't for 2 years of stripped 1st rounders. HOMEBOY.
Anyway, let's praise the Lord and hope Brown does the unthinkable today... actually makes a few trades that help the team out for a stretch run. Versus having the runs in his **** SOAKED TROUSERS!
I honestly think JV is only willing to go the Astros. If he were going to the Dodgers or any other team, he would be there already. Boras is helping Verlander out. If Verlander wants to win another world series with the Stros, it's in his best interest to keep the price low in terms of current players and prospects.
Jesus Christ - can Hayman possibly do any more heavy lifting for the Mets here. This is indeed accurate - except the Mets have also stated what they need to complete the deal - so there is an impasse at this point. The Astros and Mets are expected to talk again, and if the Astros do not come up to something competitive, the Mets are expected to offer Verlander options with other teams, and he can go to one of those if he so chooses.
Never enough bats. Especially if Dusty continues to play an automatic out like Maldy majority of the games.
If we get Verlander and the Mets pay half the salary…. Does the 43 million still count against Astros payroll cap? If so, we have zero wiggle room for next season.
The median Top 100 prospect earns about 3 fWAR over 6 years (a lot of pitchers get hurt). I'd guess 60% is probably around 4 fWAR. Marisnick produced 5.5 fWAR over his last 4 years of club control. Unless public prospect evaluators have gotten a lot better in the past 5 years, I would not call that an absurd statement. Prospects are incredibly valuable because the ones that pan out (20+ WAR over 6 years) help a lot more than the larger number of ones that don't work out hurt (<4fWAR).
No offense but this pizzed soaked trousers naritive is neither accurate or funny. It's tiring at this point. No matter what deal he makes he is going to get roasted by this board. Gave up to much. He panicked Hate was heavy for Click all ofseason until about an hour ago. The two best moves we made were activating Jose and Yordan off the DL. Yes we need a pitcher. But if you think Brown ain't trying you are creating a narrative that does not exist. If I were to rag on anything Brown had done it would be not being stern with The Duster about daily lineups
Astros score enough runs. I wouldn’t mind adding a LH bat off the bench but there are none to be had. Astros need arms
I just hope we keep JP, Brown, and Chas along with the untouchables that include Diaz at this point. On a side not, Diaz maybe the most significant thing Click did during his time here. Everyone thought he was just a throw in so Chas and Meyers could play.
Our two worst bats are Pena and Maldy. Nothing we can do about Pena, but we could replace Maldy with a well above bat internally anytime we want.
I like Jake, but I would hope he has bigger fans than me. I actually think Marisnick is the perfect comp. Marisnick had 11.0 bWAR during his controllable years ( 0.0 for FL. 10.8 for Hou, and 0.2 for NYM) Meyers has 3.1 with 1/3 of his 2nd season left. That's about 11.2 for his 6 controllable seasons. That is a very valuable player, but he still has upside. With 591 PA as an everyday player, he could get 12.4 bWAR over the next 4 years, and that's a much better than average player. That's also 15.5 over his controllable years which is more than 90% of MLB players get in their entire career. For perspective it would be 25th in Astros history for position players, just ahead of Luis Gonzalez's 15.1 It's also way more WAR than 75% (or more) of the players on the top 100 prospect lists will ever get.
