If Dana is gonna get the band back together by trading for JV, then might as well trade for Yuli too. I do miss his glove. Abreu leaves much to be desired defensively.

Yeah, I hate the idea of giving him up. He might just be scratching the surface here. The dude just exudes excellence to me. Maybe I’m overvaluing him based on recent success, but he just seems like a “winner” type of player, which are hard to come by.

This one hurt. Astros were talking to them. They didn’t want to trade within division if possible

JV could be worth more prospects next year but that's a huge gamble that he stays effective and healthy. The Mets may be motivated to move him this year with the last 2 months he's had knowing this may be the most they can get if things go south.

With the fire sale, not sure the Mets want to play that waiting game.

But if he’s not willing to waive his NTC to anybody else, the Mets really have no leverage. The leak is probably to stir up ‘something’ from the Dodgers that they may somehow be able to convince JV to consider it… but he really doesn’t have to.

Exactly my point. Astros may catch the Mets in a bit of desperation to move him. with JV steering it our way.

We shall see. Still liKelly has not much to do with the prospects… and about $$$ and that vesting option.

Also, Crane won’t negotiate much on the $$$. He’ll make a proposal tied to a prospect they feel should suffice that $$$… and the Mets will have to figure it out.

If Seattle is selling, how expensive is Gilbert?

I'm guessing less than 2 turtle doves but more than a partridge in a pear tree

If the Mets owner is set on getting out from underneath verlander's contract, then we have quite a bit of leverage if it is HOU or bust.

this sentence is a wild ride. Soto doesn’t even play CF so why is the trade contingent on him (even ignoring the fact that he’s on a different team)

You only get 1 Sept call up if I remember correctly. If the Astros bring up a bat he is at the top of the list.

He doesn’t care about that. He’ll pay it down to get better prospects.
