Obviously Crane is easily the most successful sports owner in Houston history But what makes me mad about not going into the tax is 1. He has made WAY north of a BILLION dollars on this franchise 2. We have the 3rd highest average cost of going to a game in MLB according to a recent report There is zero reason to not go longer to extend Tucker and Framber Springer didn’t want to be here, and I almost get the same vibe from Cole I understand not going 10 years on Correa with the injuries But dude is making a mint and charging us out the a$$ because he knows he can Sign Tucker and Framber long term
Soto, Snell, and Hader might have some value, but is it transcendent value? One Transcendent WAR is worth like 50 fWAR.
Mets may own the National League next year... they went to the Houston Texans method of signing and flipping.
Appreciate the response. I thought what you were saying that it was a trade the Astros were giving too little for.
Unless Dylan Carlson is the next coming of Babe Ruth, then I don't see how you think this is a viable offer.
Talent scouts know what they want. If a team likes what we have better then someone else, a deal will get done.
I for one am fine with the measured approach Brown is taking. With the emergence of JP France and Urquidy coming back, we really aren't in desperate need of a starter. Only JV and Snell would move the needle for us, and likely the cost for either of those is way too high. We got a really good relief pitcher, which pushes Maton and Stanek down a peg in the pecking order (very important). With our now very sound offense, we are built around locking down games after the 6th inning with Graveman, Abreu, Neris and Pressly on the back end. Starters just need to be decent.
Every hour from 6pm tonight til 6pm tomorrow the price of acquiring players goes down a little. Timing is everything from here on out.
If Verlander has waived his no trade beyond Houston, he'd be gone by now. While I'm not hoping beyond hope that he does come here . . . it is encouraging that he hasn't been traded to the Dodgers yet.
What concerns me is Dubon starting CF yesterday for the first time this year. Almost as if the Astros were seeing if he could play backup to Meyers.
