I always felt the word "cheating" was unfair. The Astros used cameras at the time to do something every single team was already doing. Stealing signs. Its part of baseball, the technology wasn't. The Astros got scapegoated while all the other teams doing the same thing got a pass. Luhnow and Hinch should still be here. I want Brown to do something but after hearing him in last nights broadcast it was pretty clear this man is done.
I think Brown and Crane are gonna pull off some amazing trades and late Tuesday Stros fans will be rocking. And better than that, late October and early November minute maid park will be partying and partying and partying some more. Thats my idea!
True… albeit they didn’t have comparable icons by the time selling was happening. Drayton’s version of those guys were Biggio/Bagwell… and he did accomplish keeping them around as career Astros, which despite their playoff shortcomings does/did hold some water in the trying to cultivate history of a now middle-aged franchise compared to the league.
Luhnow was also dealing from a stacked farm system. And no, he wouldn’t have brought in a bat and two ace pitchers. Find me a deadline where he ever went THAT big. Dana most likely isn’t gonna be able to make the huge splash move without further gutting the upper level minor league talent. So it’s not even remotely fair to say he’s not on par with Luhnow in terms of trade deadline acumen.
Exactly. Gets old when your GM is having a LAUGH in the locker room, yelling out I'M DA GOAT GM as the players pelt him with tomatoes while HAVING PISS SOAKED TROUSERS.
Luhnow practically built this team from scratch, eventually the talent he put on this team was going to run out. Either via free agency or trade, even then this team is centered around Luhnow's work. Since Luhnow what splash trades have The Astros made? Mansini lol? Click was bad, Brown is even worst so far. I hope he does something but my expectations are this is it. This is what we got, Graveman.....
The Astros really should look into under the radar starting pitchers that are young and controllable contract. Or call up Spencer Arrighetti and replace Brandon Bielak and see Spencer in pressure situations.
Drew Gilbert, Spencer Arrighetti, Luis Baez, Ryan Clifford these Players are the Future. Trading these Players just to win this year is ridiculous since Drew Gilbert, Luis Baez, Ryan Clifford could replace Kyle Tucker, Jake Myers in 2 seasons
The farm? There are current players on the current roster that can easily help other teams out. Brown probably doesn't want to part ways with Julks and Meyers. Luhnow would have done something already. What is Tim Purpura up to these days?
I think it’s going to be 2021 again and we lose the World Series at the trade deadline by not getting what we need to help with injuries and a taxed pitching staff.
I think thats a pretty high risk bet. I HOPE Pena is even average in the playoffs but don't expect it. But we will always have 2023
