Runner was safe anyways… had he tagged him, SD would have challenged and likely won (despite what the Rangers announcers continue to whine about how their catchers never do that).

What's frustrating is that even with the injuries, bad front office this year, etc., I feel the Astros would still be in first place with a better manager by now. A better manager would be playing the best players most of the time and putting players in the best position to succeed.

That ump was giving the Rangers pitcher every single close pitch for a strike.

The Astros have been playing a lot of fringe players in their lineup. Relax.

Right, and the players like Diaz and Chas who could have been helping out more early on when a lot of the fringe guys were still getting a lot of playing time hurt. Maldy is one of those fringe players in the lineup almost everyday.

Who knows, the fact is the main guys like Bregman and Abreu weren’t performing. You need them to, to do anything at all.

Other than pitching they didn’t have to. It’s very easy. Our best lineup:

    altuve
    Pena
    Alvarez
    Bregman
    Tucker
    McCormick
    Abrego
    Diaz
    Myers

dubon can play when altuve needs a rest or if Myers’s stinks it up. Maldonado can catch one game out of five. Sign 1 starting pitcher get urquidy back and we are set, except for dusty

True but with them being established vets, they weren't going to stop getting playing time with a manager like Dusty. Maldy has been a negative player all year though. It hurts more than helps playing Maldy this much both defensively and offensively.
