It's a better lineup than most of the actual lineups I've seen this summer. But Dubon should not be a regular starter and also not be an outfielder. He was great the first 1/3 of the year, below average since. A perfect utility guy, but not a starter especially in the OF where his limp bat stands out. Julks and Meyers are both better but that 3rd starting OF spot IS the offensive hole on this team right now and Dubon is not the answer. Right now there are only 8 players that are legitimate starters on a complete competitive team. If an OF is not brought in, my preference would be: DH Altuve and play Dubon at 2B when Yordan can play LF (25%?)- usually when Framber, Brown pitch as extreme groundball pitchers. Start Meyers in CF and Chas in LF when fly ball guys like Javier, Blanco, and Urquidy start. Julks in LF and Chas in CF in the rest. Part of the problem is that Meyers, Julks, Dubon, and Pena are all basically unplayable offensively vs RHP.
Dusty reveals why he had beef with the Irish without revealing it. "I told him if he wanted the job, he had to go and get it. One my biggest things is don't get hurt OFF the field. And he got hurt off the field, in the weight room." But that only explains this year, what about last season?
Maldonado has trouble with everyone. What’s your point, Dusty ? Diaz could hit 3 grand slams in a game and Dusty would sit him the next day because a lefty is starting . SMH
And how exactly does sitting a player as much as possible prepare him for the future? Or allow him to get better against lefties?
what?....Zack Littell is a righty.....does Dusty even pay attention? He's just saying anything to justify his "pre-determined" line-ups. The more he thinks Maldy is "managing the pitching game", the less actual managing he feels he needs to do himself. Just laziness.
In July...Diaz went 5-1 starting with a pitcher ERA of 2.33 Maldy went 13-8 starting with a pitcher ERA of 4.9
Markedly better OPS, like 300 points or so iirc. Diaz is indeed that bad against them. eta: just looked, .735 v .440 OPS
Maldonado 0 for 4 with 2 Ks plus complete inability to calm down Bielak after defensive miscues. Congrats FUsty.
