If I had a choice, I would trade both KPJ and Green for Halli and Wagner Franz....... I have no problem with either right now once the soup has been cooked. I do believe that Amen and Cam could bring different parts of the game to the Rockets than Jalen and KPJ.

After two seasons, Green still has a wide range of levels he could end up on. (I know I'd sound like a broken record. This is how a chaotic environment could mask the true potentials of young players.) I have no doubt he will be one of the better scorers in the league. He has the physical tools and he obviously has offensive skills. The question is, will he become a Kobe Bryant or a CJ McCollum?
Nice one but CJ McCollum is more of a modern player than KB just because he knows his place......while not being otherworldly talented. McCollum reminds me of a Rip Hamilton. Those guys that are scorers with not a lot of athleticism. An Anti Jalen Green, someone who based his game on skills and underrated moves alone.
I'm still watching Green grow, so I haven't formulated an opinion on him as to whether he's a "bust" (he's probably not), a disappointment (probably not), or as-expected (maybe). I never expected Green to be a great defender (though he could be) or a great primary ballhandler (though he may evolve). I expected him to be able to score in buckets, though. He seems to just need to work on his efficiency there, and I think with additional weight-gain, that could also come. Anybody expecting Green to be a very good defensive player after watching him come out of high school was deluding themselves. He was almost always the primary option at Prolific and his main purpose was to be a scorer. Defense never seems to be the focus of many high school players. Hell, team basketball rarely seems to be the focus of high school basketball. So he has to learn. I don't see him as being CJ McCollum because CJ was a guy who just knew how to score without being an explosive athlete, and he always knew how to be a perimeter player/shooter. If Jalen gets the "basketball side" of things, he can be much better than CJ. Kobe is Kobe ... MJ Lite... there's levels to this, as the saying goes - that's a tier of player you kind of only hope to achieve. I've seen Jalen bark at players after scoring on them, but I don't think I've seen the Kobe kind of dedication and basketball infatuation Kobe had, but I don't think I've seen that out of anybody. That being said, if what Ime says is true, and he holds to it, Jalen will have to play defense now - at least decent defense, if not elite. I'm kind of excited for this season to see how the young draftees are going to be pressed to prove themselves while growing with legit veterans on the team. I don't care if Jalen's scoring stays the same or even goes down a couple of points as long as his defense is better and he's more efficient. We've got a lot of guys who can score on this team, so I don't know that Ime wants balance more than he does one dude trying to get 28-30 pts a night, but we'll see.
Good points from both of you. Clarification for the Kobe and CJ comps. It was not meant to be a careful comparison, certainly not about their play styles. It was just off of my head. Two good scorers, one you can build a team with, the other is a second banana at best.
I would not go fully out on him yet but I am thinking of a player who scores easily but has a hard time figuring himself out on any team. I am not sure how many players are like that, half a season great, half a season mystery box. It is an archetype I have not seen before.......pair that with the unorthodox shooting form....and the metro and pansexuality.
See, again you're applying an arbitrary standard. You subjectively don't like good-efficiency high-scorers who are not good defenders, but that's just you. As far as the league is concerned, that's worth near max or max. The league didn't hesitate to pay up for Booker, Lavine and Beal when they were high scorers that were the worst defender in their starting lineup. So if what you're worried about is that he meets your personal standards, I don't really have anything to say about that. If what you're worried about is whether he'll be worth the max or near it to NBA GM's, you need not worry. 99% of players who can put up 25 points and 5 assists have a long history of being worth the max. Still very important: Jalen is matching his comps in a worse situation. He also showed more defensive effort in his first season than any of them. Right now you're imagining that someone knew Devin Booker could become a passable defender, but that's not what ever happens. Devin Booker wad giving up on defense when they were losing and didn't have the motor or the athleticism that would project him out to be a passable defender. It took over half a decade for him to become passable. So should the Suns have moved on when he was young just because he didn't play defense and his efficiency/passing wasn't Lebron-like? Of course not. By your standards, the Lakers should have been unimpressed with Kobe after year 2. Your methodology would kill the careers of a lot of successful players if applied as though they were objective measures. I think Green is just not your preferred TYPE of player but you're confusing that with what makes a valuable NBA player.
How exactly is a young man walking next to a beautiful woman "not flattering"??? I swear some of y'all are just weird...
I can see both sides, but its really not that flattering considering mostly all those so called Instagram / p*rn etc entertainment models have this repetitive look/image and some of them could possibly be I Am Jazz characters or looking like Rupaul show contestants, which is not natural ''beauty'' at all but deceit But most take everything they see as being authentic and get caught up in the sauce Not saying this said fe-male with JG in pic is part of that club but it has similar cliche look on what entertainment tries to pawn off for what they classify as a 'beautiful woman''
You mean generations, this started way back in even earlier centuries, its a rinse n repeat cycle since, each more current passing generation just becomes more open in public to notice, past generations were more low key / closet addicts
You have Amen, who only played minutes in one summer league game, over Jalen who has 2 seasons of NBA experience with great showings. This is beyond idiotic. It's ok to like one player more than another, but saying it's because of what you've seen, when no one has seen a thing yet? That's bs.
I'm not the only one. Several Rockets heads are pretty much saying the same thing (Frank from ChopShop and Gatlin from Locked On). Amen and Jabari's archetypes just project as more conducive to winning than Jalen's. Green might end up being better but I'll take the 6-7 freak point guard and 6-11 two way specimen over the 6-4 wirey shooting guard with spotty defense. We know what we're looking at man. But I've also probably watched a lot longer than you.
I'm not saying they can't be better or what not, i'm calling out your bs. It doesn't matter if you've been looking at players for 30 years or just 2, judging a player by just watching a couple of minutes in summer league is bs and you know it. Just admit you don't like the other guy.
