Who will get the most minutes next season and who will be left out?

I think Amen will start out small, maybe 15 minutes per game, but I'll bet he earns more and more playing time as the season goes on. That will probably come at the expense of KPJ's minutes.

 

They need to trade KPJ before his minutes/value declines if the team believes that's the route.

 

I think whoever plays the best will get the most minutes. It's imperative that Ime establishes a culture here where people earn the minutes and I could see a situation where he tests people early. Maybe by benching JG or DB or not playing KPj at all. It's important that people earn their place at this juncture because it sets the tone for the rest of his coaching tenure. However long that will be. He's going to test the players like he already did in various instances. It's no coincidence that Ime got hired and KPj showed up to his presser, Jabari and Tari played in the SL and Jalen is suddenly addicted to the gym.

 

Superstar Dillon Brooks leads the team in minutes and shot attempts.

 

He has no value. We got him for nothing.

 

You can't convince me he can't get you more than KJ Martin.

 

Cam Whitmore is being underestimated. Could very well break into the starting lineup, especially if someone on the front line is injured. I don't see him spending the season in the G League as some suggest. He is crazy good.

Think Cam will be spending time down south.

 

I haven't seen anyone disparage his game/talent. It's just he's currently behind Brooks, Eason and Tate for small forward and he just turned 19. I don't know how you end up starting when you're behind three guys in the depth chart who are all more ready than you.

 

Training camp will tell us a lot about Cam. He certainly looks way ahead of schedule. He's got an NBA body and is already a solid defender. By mid-season, if he stays healthy, he should have a regular role in the rotation.

 

Brooks and Vleet both in the same lineup is slowing the game down......I would like to see Cam instead of Brooks more.

Both of the vets are built like slow tanks.....but again I do not know if Udoka prefers this slow and grind type of ball which would be going against having a lot of fast young guys.

I know we suffered through 3 years of losing but the fast ball was the only thing that was watchable.

 

Because he might be better than all of them.

 

His Offense is already there I am sure, but I am not sure his vision or lack thereof and D are ready at the next level.

I think him being 19 is probably what people are cautious about, age should not be a problem once he is ready.

I hope anyone can replace Brooks.

 

IF Udoka is all about W's and accountability this season, I have a suspicion that many people are going to be surprised and upset with rotations & allocation of playing time.

 

He has to strike a fine balance because if he does not play rookies or sophomores that much, he is seriously getting in the way of development in favor of winning 3-5 more games.

I doubt he is that dumb.

That is exactly why I think he will improve as a coach as well, because the Rockets are not the Celtics or Lakers where it is clear that you have to play veterans or at least 24 old star players.

There is also a smart way to get about it....... if Brooks or Van Vleet are injured or in major ejection trouble in Brooks case.....the younger players get their chance.

Would not look good for the vets, but who really cares. Do not waste those 3 years of tanking by not playing the picks you drafted.

 

I anticipate Amen getting burn because I don’t suddenly see FVV staying healthy all year.

I agree. They gave Brooks huge money for a non-star player. I think the new coach must consider him a friend and really wanted him aboard.

 

Man I have this feeling he will play well under Ime. I believe the system will help.
