With Tatum that’s two Celtics/former Celtics who have played for all three coaches and say that Ime was the best/favorite.
He did not win it all and had a secks scandal, it was a mixed experience for him. And those players never played for Spoelstra!
Oh no, he didn’t win it all in his first and only year as head coach, what a failure. A scandal that has zero to do with coaching ability. What does this have to do with two of his prior players openly preferring him over Mazzula and Stevens?
Lol so Mazzulla had a better regular season than him. Now Mazzulla is more inexperienced but he is a good regular season coach and a coach who improves your Offense. This is called everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I now get that players like him but 51 wins is not a great outlook for a Boston team with an MVP type and perennial All Star in Brown. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021–22_Boston_Celtics_season
I'd question that, the Celtics were mediocre for the first 42 games or so while Ime was breaking the team to his system, but they were the best team in basketball for the last 40. This year's Celtics win 60 without a coaching change. Also, the Udoka Celtics despite winning 6 fewer games, had a better SRS and net rating.
I am not even saying Mazzulla is better than Udoka, I am saying he is not that bad. He is just bad at communication to the players what he wants. And he is not great at calling Time Outs. He is still young. And yes, a sex scandal questions your integrity as a human and a coach because your affair is with a working individual within a sports organization and not some p*rn star. And he chose to have an affair in the 1st or 2nd year of a new gig to boot. Timing is also not ideal. They would not have used Mazzulla if Udoka did not have that affair in the first place. And the Rockets would not have gotten Udoka.
You act like the Celtics chose Mazzulla over Udoka while in reality they just dealt with a situation of immensively bad PR. Mazzulla was the interim coach and not that bad of an interim.
Lol will not be silly enough to bank the most on some third year player. Hay is grass but it is not green.
We've gone through a ton of head coaches since Rudy T with mixed results. Rudy was here 11 years with 2 rings. I'm hoping Udoka outlasts him and has more hardware to show for it. Ex-players rave about him. He'd probably still be at the helm of the C's if not for.... He's from the Pop tree. Could be a game changer for this team as soon as this season.
Every Celtics player who played under him speaks highly of him. I think we got a good one, but I could be wrong.
Usually I ignore players praising former coaches because it feels like pr talk and players in the league will avoid **** talking active coaches because it's a bad look on their part. But the difference here is these Celtics players are singling out Ime out of three coaches they've experienced as their favorite. They are making relative comparisons and saying Ime was their favorite. That is worth something.
Udoka went to the finals his only year as head coach. I stated a fact: two of his former players who played for all three coaches prefer Udoka. What exactly are you trying to argue? That Mazzula is better? Take it up with Grant Williams and Jason Tatum, not me.
In regards to that scandal, Udoka went with the 'strike while the irons hot'' approach and got burned Works for others and remains under rug or becomes the new media outlet sensationalism that Udoka and many others get stories aired out The root problem is this is happening right now in the NBA Just like its still Sterling/Sarver type owners and execs in all major sports
It didn't die down that fast but the Celtics did a decent job of aftermath PR recovery. Ime has a new job and I doubt people are talking that much about what happened.
Better in what exactly, better does not win championships.... If players cannot articulate themselves as in what Ime does better than the rest of the coaches in the NBA, I am not willing to believe 100%. He had a good postseason to an above average regular season and I am supposed to compare him to Pop who got 5 championships???? Take it up with Grant Will who got stomped by Jimmy Butler, yeah right. The argument isn't about Ime but you as a hot take expert who cries about Marcus Morris , crying for attention about drinking your body fluids, crying about how you love a role player Dillon, now elevating a 1 year coach to superstar coach. Just a cry for attention.
