Charlie Crist was a bad candidate who was more out of touch with FL voters. While he did put forward an interesting message just never seemed dynamic enough to reconnect with voters.
Seems like FL, like TX, is tough for a Democrat to win in. I would have thought a former republican would attract enough moderate and independent votes but but obviously not. It would be interesting to see if something like that could work in TX. Say, if Will Hurd were to announce as a Democrat. My guess would be no, but its an interesting idea.
I don't understand all the merriment at DeSantis's primary campaign woes. Shouldn't every non-cult-member citizen of the US, if not the world, want just about any contender to Trump to have a good shot? And sure, congrats to y'all who predicted RDS would go down in early flames -- hurray for you -- but damn, this is a terrible outcome from my perspective. And yes, I disagree with him on just about everything, but I don't want an actual criminal becoming POTUS and using the office only as a shield and cudgel for more nastiness and criminality.
Who the republicans nominate is up to republican voters. If I had a choice, I would root for Hurd. Maybe Christie after that. But from a governing point of view there isn't much difference between trump and desantis. Neither seems to believe that they would be required to be president for all Americans, neither have shown any interest in Democrat voters. Sure, desantis isn't as corrupt, and won't be a convicted felon. Hopefully republican voters won't nominate a felon.
....and both use retaliation against those who dare to oppose their views. That's why neither is a good choice. You have Trump simply wanting to be the King of a corrupt kingdom and DeSantis wanting to turn America into a country of governed by Christian right wing policies.
DeSantis was just Trump without the hateful bigotry, but now he's added that. He's no better than Trump - if anything, he's just a politically more effective version of him once in office, minus any inkling of weird charisma. Think about what kind of a human being creates a personal "voter integrity" police force and arrests black people for show, ruins their lives, and then drops all the charges? Or what kind of person takes vulnerable (legal) migrants and transports them across the country, lies to them, and then drops them off in random places without any support structure? Or what kind of person openly demonizes Trump, of all people, for saying he'd protect the rights of LGBT American citizens? This is not a person anyone should want as President, under any circumstances. Whatever their political views, caring about US citizens should be a basic prerequisite to being President of the US. DeSantis doesn't meet that bar, and he and Trump are probably two of the only semi-credible candidates ever to run for President in that category. Fortunately, he's a complete idiot that will also never be President. But on the bigotry scale, he's actually openly just as bad as Trump. He hasn't yet been given the opportunity to try to foment a coup or commit crimes to stay in power, but he openly said that none of the Jan 6th stuff was a crime and that at the very least, Trump should be pardoned for it. To your point about it helping Trump, I disagree. The quicker DeSantis goes down in flames, the quicker someone else can rise up (or join the race). DeSantis being a strong #2 makes it harder for anyone else jump in the mix. I don't know that Pence or Haley or Scott have the ability to supplant DeSantis as the Trump alternative, but it opens the door for a Youngkin or Kemp to announce and immediately shoot up the polls to #2.

I can see why AOM, Tinman, and the radical right types love the guy. Embrace the hate! Laugh at the misfortunes of others.
Oh, that's painful. I've heard and read about his inability to connect with humans but seeing it all on camera....wow, that's bad. Awful.
Well, that bullsh!t didn't take long to debunk (10 seconds on google): House Bill 3751 permits anyone who is not a U.S. citizen but is legally authorized to work in the country under federal law to apply to become a police officer or a sheriff's deputy. https://newschannel20.com/news/local/illinois-bill-would-allow-noncitizens-to-become-police
You're going to need to explain it in more depth than that, compadre. non-citizen does not equal illegal alien, last time I checked.
Here's the bill, tell me where it says anything about illegal immigrants becoming police officers: https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/Bi...ocNum=3751&GAID=17&SessionID=112&LegID=149009
