Dramatic overpay. If Chicago is eating all of Gravemans contract it stings less but regardless that’s a huge price for 1.5 years of a setup man.
1 year of club control left. Yainer is pretty clearly trending as the catcher of the future here. Doesn't happen if that wasn't the case
At these prices the Astros should just call up Gilbert and Arrighetti as their deadline adds and preserve the farm. Teams are totally mortgaging their futures.
Korey Lee wasn't going to play here unless Maldonado ended up getting hurt or if Dusty came to his senses...
I think you're being a tad biased towards each/every prospect getting dealt. Or isn't the season already over since Yordan was injured for 6 weeks? (and the call was to trade everybody for prospects!)
I’m OK with the Graveman trade. Korey Lee might not be good. Would’ve been nice to get more for him but he wasn’t some big time prospect so this is fine.
the path to playing either of those positions is dramatically worse than catcher. and even at catcher it was grim
" ̶K̶e̶n̶d̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶G̶r̶a̶v̶e̶m̶a̶n̶ Justin Verlander was a team favorite when he was with the Astros. Players were sad he didn't re-sign with the squad, but now he gets to step right back in a locker room that knows him well." Fixed it for hopefully the next update
I always thought he hated it here. That strike 'em out, throw 'em out play against the Red Sox in the playoffs is an Astros all-timer.
Don't worry... same people in here were lamenting his loss as well and the expected WAR he could have provided for cheap vs. rental Gravman...
