Pressly and Co have been overworked since noon.

Hopefully they're off until after 7... and the Astros keep winning in the meantime

    I agree.

But Brown made a lot of noise about all the things he was going to do when he first came aboard and so he raised expectations.

So anything less than obtaining a player that is a difference maker will be a failure to me.

    This we can agree on.

Especially after Click's failure last year and the reports that Crane wants an impact move.

Diaz with 525 ABs projects to:

    30 HR
    70 RBIs

    We haven't DFA'd Maldy yet?

    Absolutely.

The Astros won the World Series despite Click's terrible deadline.

Saying he did a good job just because the Astros won is like saying Maldy did a good job just because the Astros won 8-7 when he has a passed ball, throwing error and strikes out 4 times.

I just know that Yuli was having a terrible year and the Astros played down a bat in the lineup the whole 2nd half.

Crane wanted a bat and every fan wanted a bat.

Click didn't sign anyone in the offseason promising to make a splash at the deadline and did not do it.

Mancini was about the 4th or 5th choice, and terrible (made 1 great play with his glove- but Yuli would have been there if he wasn't hurt).

Click simply did not do what Crane and the Fans wanted.

The Astros won despite a lineup giving 2 outs away every time through the lineup.

I wanted the Astros to win a World Series and not make stupid trades (i.e., trades that hurt the Astros chances of winning a World Series). Besides for Whitley, basically every prospect of note was not a bust during Click's tenure. I don't think Korey Lee or Jairo Solis would have brought back much in a trade. I don't see how dealing a starting pitcher that was all the rage last year among fans would have helped the Astros this year. I get that Javier has been disappointing, and Hunter hit a rough patch, but it is doubtful the Astros would be doing as well depending on Blanco or Dubin all year.

Siri is the only thing I see as regretable from last trade deadline.

If Siri is here then Chas is still on the bench or traded

I wonder if Sean Manaea could be a cheap answer to eat some innings. He’s currently SF’s 6th SP and they have good SP in AAA. Would y’all do Kessinger for Manaea? SF might be looking for IF help. Manaea has only made 6 starts and thrown 66 innings so his arm should be fresh. His era is ugly but his underlying numbers look good and he was a playoff caliber SP as recently as 2021.

So you are saying that Vasquez, Mancini, and Smith put the Astros over the top?

With other players on the roster playing instead of each of them the Astros had significant chance to miss the playoffs or lose the World Series?

One or more of them made a contribution that was significantly better than the players they replaced?

I'm saying they were good trades at the time, not with hindsight.

There was nothing wrong with the trades. But none of them were the guys people were talking about or wanting.

Click settled because he was unable to get impact players.

And - predictably- boring not impactful acquisitions ended up not making any impact.

Who got traded last year that we should've gotten? Who did people want?
