The Republicans do have a deep bench, even experience coaching in the brutal SEC. An embarrassment of riches for replacement options.

There is this most basic low level of respect I have with McConnell because he doesn't touch all the culture wars nonsense with a ten foot poll.

Still horrible for the American lower middle class and poor. But the dude at least attempts to avoid pandering to fascists unlike the "new blood" with Trump and DeSantis.

I find the new energy of the republican party far less mature, competent and reserved.

There is a certain level of shame the old guard of the GOP has like McConnell to not dedicate discourse time to things like Budlight cans. And ya I have to acknowledge that. I respect that. It's one of the few things I'll respect about him.

It's amazing that a country this big and diverse continues to be governed by people who remember when a Coke cost a nickel.

And have no concept of what the modern world is like, thus the lack of quality regulating on things like Twitter and Facebook.

I don't see how/where not being in the Constitution is really UNconstitutional. We do have an Amendment process. While I'm with you about getting money out of politics, officer-holders were entrenched before Citizens United.

Officer holders were entriched before because gerrymandering and money has destroyed society. Why would a republican or Democrat in a safe congressional seat not be extreme when they know their job is safe?

If you remove all money from poltiics and make EVERY congressional seat a toss up I think you'll have much better results. No gerrymandering and no safe districts for anyone.

The reason cori Bush and MTG are both nutjobs is they have safe jobs. Nobody in congress deserves a safe job

Doesn't gerrymandering have more to do with who is entrenched? The Devil you know and all that....

Yes. We currently have only 20-30 "swing" house districts that are even up for grabs. The majority of our congressional folks have secure jobs forever thus leading to corruption and influence peddling. Their more worried about building their social media influencer count or finding more donors.

Every single congressional member should worry about their jobs every 2 years. THis is the way to bring real accountability. If you look at who actually governs right now its always the swing district reps as they know if they dont produce they'll get voted out.

Remove money + put every rep in a swing district and you'll see a transformed congress overnight.

This is just wrong, this poor lady has no business in her current role. I respect the hell out of her, but we can't have people who are being propped up and told what to say for a vote. I know there are issues with keeping the seat blue but let's figure it out and let this poor lady enjoy her life. Hell, I don't want to see Mcconnel doing this in a few years, this goes across both aisles, let's let these folks have some dam dignity.

For the real people in power(shareholders and corporate executives). They love rubber stampers like her. So we will keep on having geriatrics like this because that's what the people who have actual power want.
