The worst stat in basketball is team offensive rebounding - that usually means you suck at shooting and while you are crashing the offensive glass the other team is transitioning and you are giving up easy buckets. BOTH TRUE last year. IN the Rox 2 championship years we sucked on the offensive glass - with the Dream - but we were great at getting back and stopping transition. Stopping transition is more important than offensive rebounding. DD
Irresponsible to offer that contract to Brooks when Eason will be exactly the same player, if not better.
I mean Brooks will be at the end of his contract by the time Eason is ready for a extension or new contract.
Have a feeling Tari will be starting on the wing by next year. DB will come off the bench and they'll probably be looking to trade him in the third year of his contract.
Exactly. You get cheap production from Eason while maintaining more flexibility to improve the roster. Instead we locked ourselves into a player 29 other teams weren't interested in at an exorbitant contract.
Essentially just a fatter version with the inclination to getting himself ejected and gather technicals. Even Draymond looks fitter. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/houston-rockets/dillon-brooks-23646/fines/
As much as Tari is a higher ceiling more talented player than Brooks, he's also inexperienced and will make decisions that can cost games often due to his inexperience like any other young player on this roster. This team needs guys who've experienced winning seasons and were major contributes to them. As much is Brooks is trashed by the media, dude made an all-defensive team in a winning team which means he was a major contributer. Young guys just need dues who done that before around them. We had none of that last year outside of EG but that dude has no interest in mentorship. Brooks is young enough where he cares about forming an identity with this crew and is the type of vet who can excell at things that don't require the ball in their hand unlike EG. It's just a different mindset he brings in that hasn't existed. Brooks will call **** out like never before on this roster. Green or Sengun b****ing about a missed call leading to an easy transition buckets for the other team, Brooks is going to lay in them and he won't care if he's 1-9 that game. Because he's going to teach that you can only care about the things in your control like running back on defense. Problem with young dudes is if they are doing poor offensively they often get timid. Guys like FVV and Brooks are past that stage. They don't give a ****. This team needs that so bad.
from Kelly Iko's interview with Tari Eason Seems like one of the things the Rockets brass told Brooks was to teach Eason on the finer parts of defense.
And having to give up assets to do it. Stone should have never guaranteed those 4 years for Dillon Brooks, especially since there was no real bidding war for his services.
