Back to the ole' standby Astros need 13-15 solid arms to get through the season, then 8-9 special rested arms to get through the playoffs. Rotation: Season: at least 6 starters so the top guys can get ready for playoffs. I would like to see the projected playoff starters pitch less in August/September. Likely: Framber, Javier, Brown, France, Urquidy, Bielak, trade acquisition. Playoffs: the 4 best starters, hopefully with 45 innings or less from mid- August to end of season. Likely: Framber, Javier, Brown, France. Bullpen: season: at least 10 arms with the last 3-4 guys who can be optioned up and down and fill innings without losing too many games. Would like to see top 4-5 leverage guys pitch no more than 2-3 games per week in September. Likely: Pressly, Neris, Abreu, Maton, Martinez, Montero, Stanek, Mushinski, Blanco, Dubin, trade acquisitions ×2. Playoffs: 4-5 best high leverage arms as rested as can be managed, then fill out with best options from remaining rotation and bullpen arms. Likely: Pressly, Abreu, Neris, Maton, trade acquisition.
We know Astros will make a move. Brown is under a ton of pressure to keep the winning streak alive. What will it cost us is the question?
Idk what we are gonna do. But Lane Thomas In LF would be out a site. I think he is the Answer and shouldn't cost to to much. Yes I know you guys don't wanna hear it but he is the cost effective player who hits well from both sides and can play All 3 spots in the OF. Meaning you can still play Yordan in LF some if you want to
Doesn't meet any needs. He is just another duplicate of the players and skill sets already here. He is 92 wRC+ vs RHP. Even Julks is 95. There is only 1 reason to bring in a bat and that is if he can improve the teams run production vs RHP. Other than that, the roster is complete.
Bellinger would be the perfect rental bat since he is a good left-handed hitter. He can play 1b and cf. 1b is our weakest position and we might need to bench Abreu at some point during the playoffs.
It's the Roger Clemens rule when we landed him from the Yankees., "Sure, he's a d-head, but he's now our d-head; I prefer my d-head to someone else's, to yours". Bellinger would be a Get! It puts our line-up one hero deeper. I hope we get him. Will buy jersey.
Lineup is set.. Altuve 2B Dubon CF Alvarez DH Bregman 3B Tucker RF Abreu 1B McCormick LF Diaz C Pena SS Maldonado C Julks LF Brantley/Meyers Add that LH bat (Peferably an IF) and we are set with bats
i take it to mean our outfield depth chart is now: Tucker Alvarez McCormick Julks Dubon eventually Brantley and at the bottom Meyers therefore he will be traded
How so?he is better the Meyers and Julks hits leftys like crazy and has power. Plays above avg DEF and can steal a bag or two.
If we get that Bat and it is Bellinger: L Bellinger CF R Altuve 2B L Alvarez DH R Bregman 3B L Tucker RF R Abreu 1B R McCormick LF (can hit like a lefty) R Diaz C R Pena SS Balance, pop, speed, I love it. That's one-half of a WS winner. JP better pitch his @ss off.
Your "he is better than Meyers and Julks" is complete opinion. Literally everything you just listed are all things that Julks and/or Meyers already do. What the team needs is run production vs RHP
I would be super conflicted on Bellinger. He’s having a nice season, but good lord I am not a fan. Having said that, I am a fan of bright shiny gold pennants hanging permanently at MMP, and if he moved the needle that direction, I could get over my other feelings for him.
