Crazy hot runs where everything is going your way and blowouts are regular are a lot of fun as fans, but they also tend to bite you in the ass at some point.

Baseball isn't like other sports. There's generally a finite amount of productivity every player is gonna give you, and if too much gets used up at once the bill usually comes due unless you are a historically great team.

Astros caught a break not facing Eovaldi. Rangers seem short in the pitching staff. DeGrom is a big loss. Rangers have lost 4 of their last 5. This is a huge game tonight.

That’s on them for not lining up their rotation for the biggest series of the season. Astros had our top two lined up perfectly in Framber and JP.

Arlington caught a break not having to face Tuve or Yordan.

I never include Degrom as a loss for them. He was never gonna stay healthy to begin with, so it's almost like they never had him.

Rangers caught a break all season with McCullers, Garcia, and Urquidy. Those guys are MIA which has helped lead to a gassed Pressly, Maton, Javier, and Neris. Bielak has started 12 games, including Monday vs them... lol

Rangers also caught a break with Maldy playing instead of Diaz the vast majority of the season, including both games this series.

These are all factors in Arlington being one of the luckiest teams in history.

A completely healthy Astros team would destroy a completely health Rangers team including Degrom. Fortunately, Luhnow and Click built a pretty deep team and farm system so we can weather stuff.

in reading those rangers reddit forums, looks like the rangers are worried about eovaldi and his decreasing velocity. something to keep an eye out on

I think Click did a great job with not wasting what was on the farm, but Luhnow built it.

Eovaldi is coming back down to earth. The first 8-10 weeks of the season he was fire.

The Astros have won the last two against the Rangers by a total of 2 runs........ and last I checked the Rangers are still ahead in the standings.

The Astros are playing well to open this series - but it was less than a week ago when fans were wanting to burn MMP down.

i think attsn showed a similar graphic before the last game he pitched against us, 7/1. then somehow he proceeded to throw 7 shutout innings allowing 2 hits. stros won the next 3

stros hit 5 homers off him in a 2022 regular season game. Cora left him in to take one for the team
stros went 1-2 off him in the 2021 ALCS
stros went 0-1 off him in the 2018 ALCS (think bregman called him out on a regular season 3hr game)

interesting history with eovaldi, he's been up and down

Average Fan is a moron. I think they should win tonight. I think they should win every game. I really don't care about anything other than that.

What do the "fans" think? What does your twitterX say? ;)

The Tampa Rays are about to lose again......... the Astros win tonight, and the Rays would only be a few games ahead of the Astros - with the two teams facing each other up next.

Astros are 8-3 in the second half, and 16-7 in the last month.

The Rangers are only 1-4 in their recent battles against the Dodgers and Astros - but are 10-12 in the last month.

The Rays are 6-15 in the last month.

Baseball can change quickly, but the Astros are in a spot to capitalize on the Rangers and Rays struggles.

I do think the Rangers have an easier schedule than the Astros coming up - both teams have a feast or famine schedule.

The timing of this seems weird. He's been fire this month and May, with April and June being more pedestrian.

He exited his start early 2 games ago -- so maybe that was a precursor -- but then he shutdown Tampa the following game.
