I wonder who the new boogeyman will be? Also MTG is attempting to become a regular republican too. But not Boebert. Weird times we live in. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/202...?utm_medium=s1&utm_campaign=nym&utm_source=tw AOC Is Just a Regular Old Democrat Now By Freddie deBoer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s recent appearance on the Pod Save America podcast had, for me, the feeling of a final disappointment, the kind that’s a little sad but brings a set of quixotic hopes to a close. AOC appeared on the popular Crooked Media show to announce her endorsement of Joe Biden for president in the 2024 election. To deliver that particular endorsement while appearing on that particular podcast — where former Obama administration staffers define the limits of acceptable left-of-center opinion — was to send a very deliberate message. It was AOC’s last kiss-off to the radicals who had supported her, voted for her, donated to her campaign, and made her unusually famous in American politics, the beneficiary of a wholly unique cult of personality that is now starting to come undone.
Joe Biden has been the most effective President since LBJ or FDR. AOC has said that she had wished Biden had gone further, but I think she realizes that he went as far as he could. If Biden only had the same legislative successes as Obama or Clinton, he would likely only had 50% of the legislative wins. AOC understands this. ETA: Above, I am trying to say that Biden has twice the legislative wins viz-a-viz Obama or Clinton.
Obama and Clinton never embraced the progressive wing of the party. Biden regularly invites bernie to the White House for events and did a labor event together the other day. Progressives have always wanted respect from the party and they never got it before. Their being treated good which is why aoc is a normie now. The administration listens to her concerns
AOCs celebrity status probably accelerated her entry into the halls of power. If she was a bartender before, it's a safe bet she'll look towards being a career politician. Like her or not, she does work hard to maintain her position unlike Bobo, who seems entitled or cynical that her election chances are proportionate to the crazy she brings that day. Hard working doesn't mean I think she's a good legislator rather she spends the time and effort improving her charisma and skills that made her popular such as events that appeal to younger voters. If she does move left of center over time, it'll probably mean higher ambition like a senator seat. It's easier to secure donor money in NY if you play ball. Ask greasy Schumer....
