Sure, I mean I'm sure it's more logical that Dusty liked him enough to play him every day before injury but then suddenly stopped liking him post-injury.
Sorry but there just isn’t any defending Dusty anymore. What he did to Chas for 2 years was bullshit. What he’s doing now with Maldy is too. The only time you post is to attack someone who criticizes anything about Dusty or the Astros. It’s weird.
Pena is a lot like Meyers. Great defender who can't hit well enough to be be MLB average with a bat over large sample sizes, despite some very hot streaks. (And very cold streaks) Overall positive 3-4 WAR player over 162 games but needs good hitters around him for a team to score runs and win.
His bat can be fixed though. He's doing a lot of extra movement at the plate plus I think he's slowing his bat speed down by continuing to bodybuild his triceps.
I admit it, I turned the game off when it was 6-9. But not for the reason you think. Usually when I leave the room and/or turn the game off, something really good happens and I miss it. So you can thank me for Chaz's 3 run HR.
I'm more interested in what's best for the Astros than what is best for Chas' 2022 playing time or Diaz's 2023 playing time. I think Dusty's way has worked pretty well. Maybe playing Chas helps them win the World Series more easily last year. Or maybe it doesn't. But the results speak for themselves. The same people b****ing today are the ones that b****ed about Dusty playing Gurriel and Dubon so much last year. And who said Dusty was stupid for not playing the obviously-superior Vazquez and Mancini (both of whom had negative WARs with the Astros last year and have continued that this year). I criticize short-sighted thinking. I criticize people who think that as fans, they see all the data needed to manage a baseball team. I criticize people who think leadership and managing people's physical and emotional health is irrelevant to managing. I criticize miserable people who just complain all day about one of the best teams on one of the best runs in Houston history. If any of that applies to you, so be it. Last year's team won 106 games and a World Series in dominating fashion. This year's team is 2 games behind the division despite missing most of their starting rotation the whole year and missing their two best offensive players for a chunk of the season. And they've done of all of this playing all the wrong lineups every day and keeping in pitchers too long or not long enough (depending on the results) and despite playing all of these people "when they just couldn't afford to do it". It's fascinating that a team with such a terrible manager, a bad series of GMs in Click, Bagwell and Brown who just don't make moves and can't ever stand up to Dusty, and so many horrible players getting so much playing time can consistently win so much. It's almost like they know something you don't. That's largely true. Those posts are about 95% of the posts on this forum, so there's not a lot else to respond to.
So basically, you don’t know anything about baseball and put all your faith into ownership and the manager without any independent thinking of your own. You get angry with those who think differently or that don’t prescribe to your blind faith methods. Got it… and that is well known here. I will continue to be happy with the wins and pissed about the losses, I will continue to question the manager when he does stupid **** and I will ride the ebb and flow of the season with the appropriate positive or negative outlook that is presented at the time. It has nothing to do with short term thinking, as you say. It has everything to do with being a passionate fan. Anyone can sit back and say “everything will be fine” but I question your passion as a fan. I’ve been rooting passionately for the Astros since 1980. A short term thinker or short term fan woulda left long ago.
Posters who rarely say anything and just live to jump all over other peoples posts are tacky and clearly get off to being Mr. "Well Actually" or "let me school these nerds" - get a life.
Save the fake positivity for corporate meeting brownie points and keep it out of baseball fandom, where it doesn't belong. Savages only please.
Dusty said he had 2 lineups one with him, one without him, then stopped himself from commenting more. Only that they will assess before game. Assess not asses.
