https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...s-agree-record-5-year-304m-supermax-extension Oh well, it was a good dream while it lasted. The new CBA makes it imperative that you draft well.
Y'know what? I'll definitely take Dillon Brooks at $86M over Jaylen Brown at $304M. It will be worth it to Boston if they win a title, but damn that's a lotta dough for a guy who can't dribble left and sucks at passing.
Now the problem with fvv deal is not enough years, should have locked him up for 4 years at half of a Jaylen Brown instead of just 3.
It's so wild how things like this happen. Like when Mike Conley became the highest paid player in NBA history. Now it's Jalen Brown. And guys like LaMelo, Ant and Haliburton are on higher paying contracts than Durant, LeBron, Giannis, Jokic, etc. You just have to laugh.
Let's hope it pays off for them. I'll laugh until the infection hits the Rockets and I can't wisely afford to attend games anymore. Brown's contract is grotesque. $40,000,000 per season would be an overpay. Watching defenses force him left in the playoffs was painful. But GM's and owners are afraid free agents will drift elsewhere if player loyalty isn't evident.
New CBA and supply and demand. Owners make more billions than ever, and players' contracts increased since the game is international with more lucrative media deals due to global demand. Not saying he's worth that, but not mad at him, if they win a title it can be justified, but also it's not affecting our cap. And I agree, our contracts will start to look smaller over time as the cap expands over time.
Celtics and Lakers should not worry about championships so hard. They will rule the league for half an eternity before the next franchise catches up to them.
This is going to hurt the NBA in the long run....such a disparity in income....will mean lots of guys leaving for more money in other countries... DD
I've always hated individual players getting such a high percentage of a team's cap. Especially when that player is B or C tier. Guess I'm too much of a multi-sport fan. NBA is different.
