China believes in playing the game just enough to not be attacked by the lunatic fringe environmentalists. China's actions continue to promote economic growth over uncertain environmental gains from limiting CO2 emissions. I support this fully, by the way. Society is better off with low cost energy than by handing over regulatory control of the energy industry to government all for the slim chance of maybe reducing temperatures by 1 degree in 30 years. That's an easy trade off which almost everyone would support if dissent were allowed.

Ground breaking new insights from a recent study. Adding heat causes heat waves.

Study finds climate change fingerprints on July heat waves in Europe, China and America | AP News

The fingerprints of climate change are all over the intense heat waves gripping the globe this month, a new study finds. Researchers say the deadly hot spells in the American Southwest and Southern Europe could not have happened without the continuing buildup of warming gases in the air.

These unusually strong heat waves are becoming more common, Tuesday’s study said. The same research found the increase in heat-trapping gases, largely from the burning of coal, oil and natural gas has made another heat wave — the one in China — 50 times more likely with the potential to occur every five years or so.

A stagnant atmosphere, warmed by carbon dioxide and other gases, also made the European heat wave 4.5 degrees Fahrenheit (2.5 degrees Celsius) hotter, the one in the United States and Mexico 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius) warmer and the one in China one 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degree Celsius) toastier, the study found.

The carbon tax in Canada is totally insane. Hugely onerous with absolutely no benefits to society whatsoever. California has a credits-based program that imposes extreme costs for fossil fuel usage. We should all pay attention to these programs, because this is the blueprint for where liberals want to take all of North America.

Unlike you and a few others here in the US, the CCP does not deny the basic science of climate change and does not doubt its existence. They are simply being pragmatic about how to transition away from legacy energy sources to renewable ones.

The US is finally making some concrete infrastructure changes to move toward that new energy future, thanks to recent investments from the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Job Act. We finally have a great chance to compete and succeed in the future energy economy.

China is doing all of the above. They have a growing energy need while also recognizing that fossil fuels are a legacy energy source that will need to be phased out.

In 2022, they released their updated 5-year plan (2021-2025) for renewable energy development. They plan to increase renewable energy generation by 50% (from 2.2 trillion kWh to 3.3 trillion kWh). This would represent 33% of their total energy needs. As a comparison, the current US energy mix consists of 20% renewable energy.

    lmao @ defending the ccp

they are laughing at the fools in the West who kill their own economies because of a cultish belief in the eco-pocalypse.

I believed all the propaganda myself...read Al Gore's book when I was younger...read all the Club of Rome stuff.

I kept running into this guy Albert Wenger, Partner at USV, on my flights to Germany. His wife Susan and him have houses and luxury apartments all over the world and keep jetting around. Later, I found out that they are funding climate extremists and trying to tell people to eat insects and give up their cars.

Tried to force Berlin to make its "climate goals" more radical:

    https://www.thecomet.net/news/natio...te-turbocharge-german-capitals-climate-plans/

Of course, he has a 200m fund to invest in companies which would benefit from this agenda.

    Screw these people.

Our economy is thriving and has a bright future thanks to the forward-thinking infrastructure and renewable energy investments of this administration.

Regarding China, if we do not acknowledge their strategic plans, we will not be able to effectively compete with them. Denying climate science and disregarding their publicly stated energy transition plan is counterproductive - this weakens our position and plays into their goal of surpassing the U.S. as the number one economy.

In addition to the above, you should aim to understand perspectives fully and ensure your statements are logically consistent.

Good luck with that. He just has fun flinging, when it's about COVID or climate or anything else that would warrant more careful study. (shrug)
Thanks for your efforts at keeping some actual new content in here (versus "oh, this guy flew on a jet!" or "oh, they blocked a baby!" or "oh, look at this poor woman and nobody cares about her!" shiny anecdotal objects).

Germany turned those coal plants back on REAL QUICK after energy costs got out of control a year ago. They, and the rest of the rational world, know that no one is truly in favor of climate change policies. It has to be force fed to us. (Yes, there are some emotional fairy tale types who naively believe they are heroes saving the world)... And the scientific community has to adhere to strict blacklisting of anyone who challenges the prevailing climate change agenda... You don't do this for sound policies that make sense to the people. You do it when you are trying to advance ulterior motives... And the true motives here are to take control of the energy industry, raise taxes, grow government (always a goal), and further reduce individualism. It's not to save the planet by reducing temperatures by 1 degree in 30 years -- that's absurd.

You're making my point. The PRC believes in the science. They are well aware that coastal problems, flooding and desertification in the PRC is being excerbated by Climate Change. While they are doing things they are also continuing to burn coal and export coal technology to other countries as part of their Belt and Road. At the same time they blame the US.

The CCP aren't denialists but they are hypocrites.
