Impossible to know for sure either way because there's not a definitive angle that shows the front of the foot or the heel definitely touching or not touching the base before the tag. Given that Tucker was clearly ahead of the tag, HPU made a common sense call. And there's no evidence that can truly overturn it. Objectively safe.

You know a lot about baseball and I enjoy your posts. You are correct that the Astros don’t have a top 25 or a couple top 25 prospects to offer like the Orioles do.

So based on what you just described, you definitely agree that if was called out, they would not have overturned it.

There is nothing in the rule book that states "tie goes to the runner".

Yes - and also to send the runner a lot more often. We stopped that though years ago when Hinch had enough of it.

Luhnow was awesome. He paid some smart people to work from home and literally watch endless baseball and gather data and think about stuff like when should the runner be sent home… and hundreds of other similar scenarios.

Astros still do that to a degree. They have some extremely smart people in the player development and research department - two of the best actually are women.

Astros already lost Cora - I am hoping Cintron gets the next manager spot for the Astros. He is really good.

That's why the call on the field stood and wasn't overturned. That isn't proof of him being out, or else they would have overturned the call.

Safe. Go cry with the Rangers if you think his foot didn't hit the black angled part of the plate before the tag.

The Astros appear to have their CF for the next several years.

Lock in Bregman and Altuve for 5-6 yr period and hopefully Tucker.

Diaz (crossing fingers) is our catcher for the same time frame.

That sets us up for C, 2B, SS, 3B, CF and RF being set through about 2028 and leaves that championship window open.

Correct, I'm just making fun of all the ridiculous "he was clearly safe" posts.

See, embarrassingly ridiculous posts like that. Case in point.

Love your insights, wonder what your thoughts on Espada then. Always figured he would be next in line.

I had the same question, I'm hoping a full field replay comes out because I'd like to see if the throw was bad from rf but it didn't look that way.
