I need Ohtani traded to the NL Got a $50 bet to win $1,500 on Tucker to win the MVP, move Ohtani out of the league and he has a legit shot
"Deserve's got nothing to do with it." If calling a player up, leaving him down, or trading him is in the best interests of the Astros, then they should do that.
He is rumored to be on his way yet again. but we may be out of time to see him before the deadline. A rumor isn't worth a damn after that.
While I understand the importance of not striking out, and how the Astros value this metric, it's a gross oversimplification to boil player analysis down to a single metric. Dirden hit great during Spring Training -- it's not like he'd be overwhelmed. By the way, Aaron Judge struck out 26% of his plate appearances in AAA. Player analysis is not based on one metric alone. Oh, and Julks was 0 for 2 today with 2 strikeouts. And Madris is batting .154. And Maldy is batting .163. Meyers is batting .225. We can do better. Either way, we have to find out if we can do better -- that's a key part of improving.
We need to look into Brandon Drury and get him on this team. Madris, Kessinger and Meyers all need to go. Drury is a well rounded player that covers loads of poations has power and gets on base. Would be better then all 3 of those guys
My dream hitter is still Brendan Donovan. St.Louis has an abundance of position players so they can afford to trade him in the right deal, but that means pitching is what they need. And the Astros are a bit short on pitching.
Framber - 5+ ERA last month Javier - velo down, walks up, can’t go more than 5 innings Brown - sophomore slump, prone to walks and the long ball This team needs starting pitching in a bad way. A month ago I would’ve been fine w a MOR innings eater but our top line starting pitching is essentially pitching like a bunch of MOR guys. We need legit TOR help at this point.
Not worried about Framber. Liked Javier's last start where Velo was back up, and Brown... yeah I am worried there.
Season best described by some old glue sticks and bandaids.... A little 2020ish to me. Astros easily AL Favorites imo if they can get in the dance. Orioles biggest worry.
I agree we'll be the favorites if we make the playoffs.... although coming through the wild card route is a tough challenge for any team. I'm less concerned about the Orioles because their starting pitching doesn't scare me... and they lack playoff experience.
2020? You mean that season they: Used tons of rookies Struggled with a serious foe for the division title. Yordan and Altuve missed time w/ injuries. Had a weak bench where best player had 95 ops+ Constantly moved pitchers between minors and majors trying to fill out the staff and find 13 who are good. Had a veteran 1B and fan favorite SS have very weak seasons but still played nearly every game. How can this year possibly remind you of 2020?
You can get away with massive strikeout numbers when you've got Aaron Judge-like power. None of our AAA guys fit that definition. They've called up the AAA guys who had the best #s. Kessinger and Madris hit AAA pitching better than Dirden and Leon. You know who's hitting the crap out of the ball in AAA? Old friend Jon Singleton has a .329/.456/.686 slash line in 21 games.
Definition of insanity. . . He had great numbers in AAA with Milwaukee too Then they called him up and he went 3 for 29 with no HR, 11 Ks, and a .325 ops before they waived him. No thanks. The Astros no longer have time to give a player to "figure it out" at the MLB level.
Montero has actually had an OK July. It would be nice if he rediscovers last year and can be a serviceable 5th bullpen arm.
I sure thought he was going to try to be back today. Haven't seen anything in a few days though on that.
