What I’m sure of is Qan has never played on a team at a high level. I am positive that no one on earth loves the Astros more than I do. As much surely…anyone that reads this cares at least sometimes. And the owners. they love what they own so Crane probably loves the Astros as much as I do but I’m now on owner four so I got owners beat. I”m positive Drayton and McMullen if they are still alive don’t care if Maldy is catching. What about the players? well they love their teammates but money talks. People are selfish and respond to individual incentives. I love the Astros for free. So Springer might have had a legit argument that he loved the Astros more than me for a year or two. But now? So I got the players beat. So really its me versus you. The insane fans that would be reading this. Well I beat you as well person reading this since, there are no 99er’s on this forum anymore. And longevity is how you measure importance when you are old. I love drunk rambles. But my point is I wish you idiots would shut up about Dusty and Maldando. I think its hilarious that fans…especially Astros fans…think they know better than the team. Wulaw, this will be where you make some obvious statistical argument about how Maldy is the worst player in MLB. Now I’m not a coaches always know better sycophant. I don’t think Major is either for the record. I think its fairly obvious to anyone that Maldando is legitimately terrible. But this is why I’m calling out Qan for his idiotic take, and I guess Wulaw, and anyone else that can’t figure out why Maldy plays so much. It’s not Dusty or Brown or even Crane. The team loves him. Not just the pitchers cause he studies, not cause he calls a good game. The whole damn team loves him and he is thier boy. It doesn’t actually matter how bad he is anymore. They will back their guy till the end. None of you shitheads had a friend you would ride or die with? The other option is everyone that is paid to win games can’t figure out Maldonado is terrible and plays him on purpose and the entire team is too stupid to notice and lets it happen on accident. What I am sure of is this has nothing to do with Dusty. I would fire Dusty tomorrow if I owned the team but it would not have anything to do with Maldando
great. now rationally explain why he plays so much this year, yet he will almost certainly not be on the roster next year, by the same organization's choice
I have no doubt the team loves him. I have no doubt that Dusty thinks he is key to winning. Also I have no doubt that the team doesn’t always know what is best. And I have no doubt Dusty is not objective. If you can’t think of a dozen instances off the top of your head where the team and/or the manager is passionate about the value of a player, but is objectively wrong and then proven wrong over time, then you aren’t the fan you claim to be.
Maton was already in arbitration. I would hardly call him a prospect. The trade was to add Maton. Diaz was a throw in to balance the value of starting CF w/ 4 yrs of control vs a RP w/ 2. You can't say that was trading a MLB player for prospects.
The team is always right. Dusty is always right. A kessinger should definitely lead off. You should definitely have a lineup that requires 3 PHers in a row. That’s good solid baseball. Maldy should certainly catch 4 out of every 5 days even though the difference between him and Diaz is equivalent to the difference between a guy like Peña and Alvarez. Only if Alvarez was a better SS defensively than Peña. That’s basically the difference in quality of offense. It all makes sense and I’m just too ****ing stupid to realize it. A bunch of highly paid professionals playing for their livelihood and pride will probably crater and stop trying they will be so disappointed if Maldy doesn’t play all the damn time. That seems really likely.
Of course, but I don't see how you can consider a trade that sent an MLB player out in exchange for a MLB player and a prospect as trading MLB players for prospects? Trading MLB players for prospects means sacrificing this year and reducing the MLB players on the team.
i'd like to know how many times in baseball history an AL team, barring injury-related or blow out-related moves, has ever pinch hit 3 batters in a row. Seems almost impossible.
Also, let’s not pretend Straw was MLB on this team. He was a borderline 4th OF that starts on a lesser team. Not the same as trading someone that actually plays every day. He was a prospect with major league experience.
And maldy has started 73 of 99 this year… does that mean he’s an MLB player on this team? Cmon… straw started because meyers was hurt and dusty wouldn’t give Chas the time of day.. now he’s doing the same with Diaz. Doesn’t change the fact that I would trade straw again and maldy for prospects in a heartbeat..
Simple question Would you rather Add: Cease, Stroman, Graveman, Thomas, Drury and Estavez. Or go for gold. Cease, Robert and Graveman. Either one will cost about the same.
I'm prepping for my pod on Monday with Astros trade value within the organization. I'm super pumped for this pod. Here's my tiers. Tell me where you think different guys go: 1) I'd cry and cry if we traded this guy- would have to be for a super star with lots of club control and probably not even then 2) It better be a pretty special offer- don't waste my time otherwise 3) I'm listening, but you better be talking about an all star coming back my way with at least 1.5 years of control left 4) Significant part of a package to get someone excellent back in a walk year, or good with multiple years of control left 5) I'm almost sure this guy is worth more to me than you 6) Pure rentals, very little value 7) Jags I'd rather keep than give away for nothing- not sure you why you want to offer me something interesting but I'm listening I guess OR Also- maybe someone meh in a walk year that fills a hole- the Rich Hill and Michael Lorenzen category 8) I'd really rather not trade him- but I'm listening (all prospects in this catergory) 9) No- really- he's valuable and you should take him, but he's blocked here and I don't think he's special. But you could use him. Give me something good. 10) I will help him pack his car and drive him to the airport- he has negative value. I have some prospects in tiers 2 & 4, tiers 8 & 9 are all prospects. I dealt with 42 guys.
I have to put this guy on ignore, his trade takes are borderline lol, I thought you were putting out Baker's lineup for today lololol
