The Astros pinch hit three times in the 9th inning… that’s all I need to know. That tells me the manager picked a poor line up.
Dusty seems to always push the WRONG button with his pitching decisions. His lineup construction tonight was terrible, and then he doesn’t pinch hit for Maldonado earlier. I truly don’t understand it.
By the way, it’s about time for Peña to grab some pine. He is completely lost and really should be sent down to get right. Pena in the month of July is slashing .186/.222/.478. Not even Martin Maldonado is jealous of those stats.
I've been following this dude's career since he was a left fielder for the Dodgers. I have watched him manage many years. This is what he does. Teams hire him and fire him , He wasn't supposed to be here long just a band aid, and Jim Crane got enamored with Dusty's ways even though this team won in spite of him. This is normal Dusty Baker behavior, and he's petty. He doesn't like Diaz because he lost Myles Straw in that trade. This is what you get with Dusty Baker. Hell Cincinnati didn't want to fire him, Dusty forced them to do it.
Yeah. Madris walked, but Baker has developed some weird need for Madris to pinch hit in the 9th whenever we are losing. Also games like this really hit home how poor a job Dana Brown has done with the bottom of the roster is pathetic…. Kuehel? Madris? Hensley?
As long as Dusty keeps going with Maldy 2 out 3 games, the lineup is going to poor. I feel sometimes Dusty is like the Monkeys's Paw. He goes most of the season so far without PH much and then when he does it, he does it is way that doesn't make sense besides for Yainer for Maldy. Last season when Chas was banished from CF, he finally is given a start there with Framber on the mound. Yainer getting more PT, but only at DH. Up until recently, anytime Yainer caught, Dusty put in the B team.
A huge game… and we throw that lineup out there. Then, while the lead was still just 3-1, he goes with Kuhnel instead of Seth, only to bring in Seth after a run was scored and it was 1st and second. It’s just dumb managing. There’s no other way to put it.
lol that would be some level of pettiness. Does feel that way. Chas has been playing more so there is that, baby steps.
Javier tonight -- 97 pitches 48 strikes He only surrendered 2 runs because it was Oakland Astros need to do something different with him, namely a 3-week shutdown, then handle him with kid gloves after his return: 85 PC max and/or bullpen because the Astros current process ain't working. Javier had no business pitching the 6th inning. He wasn't going 9 IP for the no-no.
