1st - Tie - Jabari & Sengun 3rd - Green 4th - Amen I'll need to see more than 3/4 of one summer league game to put Amen higher.
My personal comps for the Rockets' young players are below. 2021 Green - Latrell Sprewell without the defense. Sengun - Domantas Sabonis on 11. 2022 Smith - Lamarcus Aldridge with range Eason - I think he is Josh Smith in many ways 2023 Thompson - Penny Hardaway Whitmore - I see Jimmy Jackson from his Mavs days I think I'd put Green and Thompson in tier 1, Smith. Sengun and Whitmore in tier 2 and Tari in tier 3. None of the guys I comped were the guy on a title team but I think our guys fit together in a way that their whole could be greater than the sum of their parts if they can be kept together.
FVV over here sounding like he owns a fleet of ships off the Dutch Coast and is soon to marry a member of the French Royal Family.
Amen's "real" name is "Ameiz" due to a mistake. Apparently it was always supposed to be "Amen". So technically his real "real" name is "Amen". I remember hearing they were going to change it officially to "Amen".
This is a good sign. Akeem changed his name to Hakeem and said it should have always been spelled Hakeem, so he finally changed it. His mis-spelling was also due to an error.
So these guys don't rank Alpi no. 1 although he was clearly the best Rocket last season, despite his coach resisting to feature him, by any metric, and diplomatic experts like Craig Ackerman see it the same way and are not shy to say it he was MVP in a top 3 league in the world at age 18 he improved most from the previous season to last season, so if you think "trajectory", why would he suddenly stall or go back? he gets the most praise of any Rocket from other players like Jokic, KD, PG, Pat Bev, the Wizards head coach and other experts around the league the player in the league he most resembles just won the NBA championship and was finals MVP, and his stats at age 20 compare favourably to Jokic at age 20 he has the most unique skill set at his position he is still only 20, the 4th youngest player on the roster (only Cam, Bari, Amen are slightly younger than him) Yet, people like Clutch, Jackson, Kelly Iko, the other guy in that podcast and "Will" from Twitter consistently seem to want to believe that other players like Green, Bari, Amen have more potential, are more "core", and should be prioritized. Only "Mitty" on Rockets twitter, Roosh, Bradeaux and red94 (@thacabbage) seem to really believe in Alpi. It's very weird, to be honest.
Well, to be fair, most sports fans all around the world suffer from memory issues. Sports fans tend to remember the most recent events/games and evaluate players/teams based on that. I genuinely believe 90 percent of people who put Amen or Jabari in the top 3 in their lists wouldn't have put them in the top 3 before SL. I'm pretty sure we'll see entirely different rankings in the upside list no later than november.
Yeah but those guys can jump higher than Alpi, so of course they're better!!!!!!! This is literally the only explanation (hey, I was also guilty of this in high school thinking the kids who had major hops were the supreme players)... apart from the blatantly obvious other one which we hopefully don't have to delve into because of how ludicrous it sounds.
It's the two way potential of Amen and Bari. A lot of fans don't believe that Sengun will be able to impact the game on both ends enough to justify putting at 1. You make a good point about Jokic showing us the way sort of speak. Maybe his playmaking ability will eventually outweigh any defensive shortcomings. I rank Amen 1 and Sengun 2 but I hard time dropping Bari to 3. I believe in Sengun's upside and believe that he will become a monster eventually. But I can't fault them for being enamored with the two way potential of Amen and Jabari. These aren't easy choices.
Sometimes athletes in sports with “hops” can be intelligent and skilled as well. I’m sorry but some of you folks are ridiculous. I don’t think you guys are off base thinking Sengun could be the best player out of those 6. It’s ridiculous though to get your panties all in a bunch though because someone doesn’t think the same. Why can’t fans of team state their opinions and others be ok with it. Because news flash there is a chance somewhere out there that Amen and/or Jabari and/or Green and/or Whitmore could be better than Sengun.
Well I mean, we clearly all know that. It's a joke in this situation because that clearly isn't the case with the player in question in my argument (Green).
