I’m here. We constantly talk about the loaded OF yet posters are pining for more YA in left. For whatever reason we all know he’s somewhat open to injury and we’ve seen various plays in the OF by YA where we all pucker up and hold our breath. I’m ok with a 75/25 or 80/20 DH vs. LF. I think we’re far enough into his career to have a track record. Hell, he missed two games due to firework smoke IIRC. I believe he hits very well as DH only because YA is a PURE hitter so no need to risk him in LF anymore than needed.
I don’t think a trade for Robert and Cease is feasible. I’m thinking the price for Robert would be Chas plus Arreghetti and another prospect, and the price for Cease would be Gilbert plus Lee and Leon at the very minimum. I’d pull the trigger on both deals making me think it wouldn’t be enough for the White Sox.
Pena + Chaz + drew for Luis and Dylan. If you say no to that trade I'm sorry youre way too emotionally connected to the team. Twitter is having a panic attack at the idea of Pena being traded but its a easy choice. Yes trading Chaz is tough but if you want the best you got to give up the goods also.
Cease has more value than Gilbert with his control left. The Astros could trade Cease before his last season and get one guy back as good as Gilbert. Anderson isn't signed long term. Grandal is older. There's a path for those guys there. Gilbert could be Robert replacement if the money gets crazy. Robert would fetch some pitching. This is partly predicated on them not trying to contend next season. They won't likely be even keeping their guys.
I have made this point multiple times, but the White Sox NEED pitching. They have 3 rotation spots to fill even with Cease. If he's traded, then they need 4. They have an aging owner who wants to win and has never liked rebuilding, will still have 5 players making over $10M, and are in a weak winnable division. They will not tear it all down They will want pieces back that will help them in 2024 and beyond, and they will want at least 2 of their 2024 starting pitchers in the deal or else they will hold on to Cease. These offers with multiple outfielders and zero or 1 pitcher simply aren't realistic.
I don't think there's anyone who shares your opinion an .882 OPS is negative. Granted, small sample size. In LF his arm strength is lessoned, especially at home. He covers ground well but probably needs to work some on instincts in the OF. He's much better in left than center due to his poor arm. My point was to squeeze the best out of him. Him being in left allows you to move him into the infield if someone gets dinged up. I could be mistaken but I think the rules prevent you from moving a dh into the field. Never bothered to learn as an NL guy who hates the DH...
Yeah... division title before he dies... just what all dying men wish for... 1) they can resign guys 2) they can make other trades 3) the guys we offer are coming off injury I'm fine moving France or Bielak... just prefer to keep a 6th starter who isn't Blanco.
Hell no to Robert. Why would the White Sox sell on a guy like him who's hitting 28 HRs this year already with decent average unless they get a massive overpay for him. He strikes out way too much for a guy that needs to be on this team (I mean Chris Carter much, I mean 33% much). The only way this would make sense would be if the Astros looked to work with him on cutting down his swing rate (perhaps it's due to him being on a bad team)... but then you'd do an overpay for a slightly above average player. I can't see the White Sox using him as a throw in along with Cease either unelss they know something the rest of the league doesn't. That would worry me even more.
I like Dubon but he is not a long term solution by any means and definitely not worth holding on to if we have a shot at getting something in return. Dubon bats well with runners on with less than 2 outs but .152 with 2 outs and RISP. His numbers have also decreased about every month since the beginning of the season with around .270 OB% since June 1st. If Altuve can be counted on to come back healthy to finish the season and we get a solid offer for Dubon... make the trade now as his numbers will only decrease. Think Miles Straw, a guy that hit decently his final year with the Astros with speed but not a difference maker. We ended up with Diaz in that trade and Maton hasn't been too bad this year. If we waited a year we would've got nothing.
Micheal Kopech, Dylan Cease, Luis Robert and Kendal Graveman For Jose Urquidy, Colton Gordon, Spencer Arrighetti, Rional Blanco, Forrst Whitley, Gilbert and Meyers How about that for them needing Pitching
What are you talking about? Dubon has a .688 OPS. / 91 OPS+ / .89 wRC+ That is terrible for a left fielder.
Also, with how inconsistent the Astros have been they are fortunate to still be in it, with Álvarez coming back with urquidy. But they still do need a starter. And a bat.
What are your thoughts on a few members here that claim Yainer Diaz and Drew Gilbert is too much for Luis Robert Jr.?
