Pretty amazing that Houston will have 5 players on Fangraphs top 50 trade value list (Yordan, Framber, Tucker, Pena, Brown), plus another player (Diaz) on their honorable mention list. Fwiw, they have Cease with less value than Pena and Brown and likely similar value to Diaz. Robert is going to be in their top 20.
Way more than enough and you would be doing pretty big damage to your offense Even if you think Dubon is >= Pena (and long term I don't think that is a smart assumption) but if you do, you are putting yourself in position to either HAVE to go get a good utility guy or accepting that Hensley/Kessinger will be a big part of your team the rest of the way A Pena Gilbert combination would have to be a deal for Cease/Robert
Because we haven't been "great" this year, fans tend to forget/not realize just how talented we really are We have had Altuve for a very small part of the season, we have had Yordan for a little more than half of the season. We haven't had Garcia/Urquidy/McCullers for much at all. That's two MVP caliber players and 3 quality starters And yet we are in a playoff spot and within reach of the division title
Here’s what I think the ultimate White Sox trade would look like: Astros get: CF Luis Robert SP Dylan Cease RP Aaron Bummer SS Tim Anderson White Sox get: SS Jeremy Pena OF Drew Gilbert CF Jake Meyers SP Luis Garcia RHP Spencer Arrighetti OF Kenedy Corona
Urquidy pitched 3 innings today, was decent not great I think I would bring him up as a bulk guy to follow an opener on Monday, we need innings badly. He needs to build up but if he could give us 4 innings monday while building up i'd be all in on that
I love Pena but would trade him for an ace like Cease and whatever would also get you Graveman. Gotta give up something to get something. I wouldn't have a problem with Kessinger being the utility infielder. If this deal got done I would look at adding another outfield bat. In the off-season I would look at trading for another middle infield guy. Somebody like Espinal from the Bluejays or DeJong.
Fair point. I also might pivot on my stance of the Angels FO standing pat. Since Trout is out, albeit not for the rest of the season, but for some extendedly long period of time, I could see them packing it up for this season and trying to get as much haul as possible for Ohtani. I don't see them trading Trout this season but I would put my money on them trading him by next seasons end. They are due for a badly needed full rebuild. Getting out of his lofty contract will obviously be the kicker. He's only 32 now and still has good days ahead of him but the injury proneness that he's trended towards each season has to be something of a concern to the Angels brass, when you are already in the midst of considering trading away the best player in baseball.
The thing is Cease makes us better. He gets better by having a great DEF behind him. We gain Robert. We haven't had a stud CF since we'll Springer. Dana Brown loves him some Robert. Js
I would have to think about this deal, But in the end I would probably do this deal. I guess this would probably come down to how good I thought Arrighetti will be and if Garcia can get better after coming off of TJ.
That is too much. If the Astros were to give up that much, they better have Luis Robert joining Cease.
I disagree, but even so you are also giving up clearly out top prospect in Gilbert as well as one of our better prospect arms in Araghetti Would love Cease, but that's just too much
Wow, Robert has over 100 K's already. That is a lot of strike outs. Still somehow has an OPS over .900. He's never played a full season, is he injury prone?
I am extremely high on Gilbert but higher on cease. He has the kind of stuff that could dominate in the post season. Currently other than framber we are lacking that.
