I like his effort. Wouldn't mind him on a 2-way. I liked him more than Darius Days or Hudgins. If we could only keep 3 from the summer league team who are not already on the squad (and had no other options outside that squad, but we will have those), I would keep Hinton, Magee and Mayer.
I like Hinton. He’s basically Kentavious Caldwell-Pope if you squint hard enough. (Or do enough drugs)
He brings energy and some defense but he’s undersized and very streaky offensively. I don’t think his game will translate well in the NBA. There’s a reason why most of those guys are in the g league. You see how they struggled with a 3rd/4th string Cavs team. A lot of their games won’t translate well against real NBA players.
If he was a better shooter or could actually finish in traffic. But I do love his defense and hustle. Definitely need a player like that.
I was really impressed with him. Strikes me, at worst case, as a Rudy that pushes everybody to be better and work harder in scrimmages.
Eat em up! Hinton's D has always been impressive, but his offense is on the come. Seems much more comfortable. He should be an end of the rotation 3 & D guy somewhere before all is said and done.
I said something similar the other day in another thread - Rather keep Magee & Mayer over Days and Hudgins. I like Hinton's effort as well, just not sure he has an NBA body / game to go with it as an undersized swing man (2-3)
He was out hustling everyone yesterday. He needs to work on finishing at the rim, but he has good handles and he shot well.
He showed a lot more than Days did out there. You can tell he wants it and knows he's probably running out of time. Hope he can catch on somewhere.
