Eric sounds like he's reading a recap straight off of ESPN game cast. I know this is just a side gig and he's a teacher so he probably doesn't have time to pre-plan with episodes happening every other day. Very rarely do I learn anything new when listening to them. But I still will listen if I want to hear a couple of die-hard Astros fans celebrate after a big win. I've been listening to those Stone Cold Stros guys. I like that they address the same topics that are discussed here and don't ever let the team and Dusty off the hook. I generally agree with what they have to say.
Sorry Jake you're the odd one out. Hope another teams values your stellar defense/fielding/speed and we get a decent pitcher in return.
I think both Julks and Meyers will be gone assuming we get decent value, makes Chas the full time center fielder, Yordan starts in Left, Diaz at DH. In the playoffs when you start Diaz at catcher you can put Dubon in center and Chas in left.
Kershaw is such a little b****. https://dodgersnation.com/dodgers-n...ion-of-2017-houston-astros-player/2023/07/18/
But Baker still doesn't think he's an everyday player even though he hits as well as his bff, Joe Morgan
Baker addressed this on 790 today. He said people were getting in him for not playing Chas, but said he wasn’t ready due to a back injury.
BS. He wasn't playing everyday before the injury and was playing about the same amount after. Baker is rewriting history.
Except Chas started 10 of the 11 games immediately prior to his injury (10 of 13 overall to start the season before getting hurt).
For run value, the result of an action such as a hit has an expectant run value based on decades worth of baseball data. It correlatges very well with wOBA and OPS. Batters typically have a negative run value against sliders. Chas's 4 run value after yesterday's game is 48th out of 332 batters per Baseball Savant. I would disagree with that tweet which suggests that is slightly above average or merely solid. His 0.411 wOBA against sliders is 28th. Frankly, I'm surprised he's that low on these lists so far this year.
Not sure where those stats came from. ESPN shows the following: AVG OBP SLG OPS McCormick .405 .490 .857 1.347 JULY .308 .392 .477 .869 JUNE Julks .318 .388 .386 .774 JULY .260 .341 .425 .766 JUNE Meyers .240 .240 .400 .640 JULY .183 .296 .300 .596 JUNE All I know is that McCormick should be starting every game.
I remember people outside of Houston scoffed at MLB Network's #10 CF rank for Chas and considered it a huge stretch. He's living up to it now.
I just wanna say, regardless of what happens the rest of the season for the team, or when peripherals start meeting results, Bielak and France have saved our asses in a massive way. If I told you at the 100 game mark they would have made a quarter of our starts, LMJ made zero and that Brown/Javier both had ERA's over 4.25, you would assume this season would be on life support. They've also consistently gotten us through 5. Nobody is gonna confuse that with Old Hoss Radbourne, but considering how taxed our pen is, it would have gotten really ugly if they hadn't stepped up. There's no telling what manner of scrubs would be getting innings for us right now (we're already running whatever the f**k a Joel Kuhnel is). We're still in playoff standing despite a million things going against us because of them.
Yep yep yep. In my mind France has elevated himself from Quad A to a solid #4 in a rotation and Beilak has elevated himself from AAAA to a guy that should be on a 26 man roster (even for a good team) as a swing starter/long guy out of the bullpen at a minimum. I think they've been decently lucky to get the results they have so far, and it's likely they will get worse as the season wears on, but their actual performance even if it has some pixie dust sprinkled on it has completely and totally saved our asses and you can't be anything but incredibly grateful for it and consider it season saving. Even Blanco should get a bit of a mention with that.
