This is the full Chuck Todd interview with Christopher Nolan, Kai Bird the Author of American Prometheus, Tom Mason the current director of Los Alamos, and theoretical physicists Kip Thorne and Carlo Rovelli.

It's very interesting for those interested in the story and history of Oppenheimer and Los Alamos along with the issues behind it.
WARNING: This does go into D&D territory with discussions of the war in Ukraine, the state of science in the current political environment and even comparisons of Oppenheimer to Anthoy Fauci.

I'm amazed by their media campaign -- just the size of it.
I get the vibe that they're fearing a big fizzle.

I don't sense that many Americans (beyond a handful of us nerds) really want a long, accurate, historical treatment of this right now. Of my students, for example, only a handful of physics majors have expressed interest. We will see.

Every major movie has a big media campaign now so I don’t think Oppenheimer is that unusual. That said I agree this is a risky film for a major studio to take on and put this much money in.

Apologies for going into D&D territory but the subject matter of this is unavoidable for Oppenheimer. I shouldn’t be surprised if there is a political backlash towards this movie over issues like how science is used politically and the role do scientists as advocates for policy. In the interview I posted they did liken how Anthony Fauci was treated to how Oppenheimer was.

Anthony Fauci isn't fit to shine Oppenheimer's shoes. Chuck Todd is highly regarded.

History nerd here. I was majorly disappointed by Dunkirk (all style, no substance) so I have zero expectations for this one.

Yah Dunkirk was pretty lame. Super intense nothingness. But I guess they were trying to demonstrate the feeling of pending doom.

Anyone know what happened to the IMAX screen at the marq'e? I last watched Dune there and all the Nolan films there and it was by far my favorite imax theater, but it's disappeared from selection for what feels like 2 years now. Did they permanently shut it down when they did all that construction?(Haven't been there since The Batman in my first and last 4dx experience and it was still under construction)

The feeling of impending doom WAS THE STORY!! LOL. Then you get the soldier on the train reading Churchill’s speech as they ride back in thinking they’ll be vilified only to realize they’re being celebrated. I thought it was a sensational film.

It’s the driest ****ing piece of film I’ve ever seen in my life. Old scientists and military men talking nonstop about things like protests and counterprotests.
