I'm comfortable with the lineup when healthy: Altuve Pena Yordan Bregman Tucker Abreu McCormick Diaz Meyers Ideally, we do add one more bat, because it is less than ideal to have that same lineup when Maldy starts. And our bench is thin. Thankfully Dubon has hit better this year, but we miss that Marwin/Diaz utility guy we've had the last 6 seasons. Dubon just doesn't have the pop those 2 guys had. Julks has the bat, but he doesn't have the positional flexibility we need. Ideally Hensley could have been that guy, but he's just been awful this season. Kessinger is having a good season, but he's never had an OPS of .700 in any of his 3 minor league seasons, so this year feels like an outlier.
After watching this series, it's obvious to me that neither Jake nor Chas have the arm to be an everyday CF. For the first time I am actually intrigued by the idea of a trade for Bellinger. I'm surprised that he actually hits LHP better than RHP but it's still a step up from Jake or Corey. He would really extend and balance the lineup by adding a run producer and LHH to lower half without sacrificing defense and actually improve the defense because of his arm. Bellinger and Stroman for Meyers, Dirden, Arrighetti, and Misael Tamarez. I'm sure it's an overpay but any trade this year will be.
I honestly didn't think I'd see this type of post after a series where the Astros scored 28(!) runs in 3 games. Also, I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume that the offense will only get better when Altuve and Yordan come back. Pitching on the other hand......
Everybody knows and everybody has said it. The problem with the pitching is that they are all on fumes. The starting pitcher's stats did not show any problem for a while because France, Bielak, Blanco, and even Dubin have done a solid job. But it's really showing now, especially in the bullpen. This team can't get Urquidy and his 11+ innings every 2 starts back soon enough. Moving one of the aforementioned guys to the bullpen will help too. This team needs fresh arms badly.
If push comes to shove and that is what the Cubs had to have, I would do it. I would like to keep one of the pitchers though.
Chas is our CF. He has earned it. For 2 years he has earned it. His own manager didn't want to play him so he had to fight with lesser players for 2 years. He is finally where he should’ve been 2 years ago. He has been treated like trash by Dusty. Routinely benched against lefties, a different spot in the order everytime he plays. He gets moved over to left or most likely benched when the lesser Meyers plays. Chas has fought through a lot of bullshit to get that starting job. I’ve never seen a player favored by the manager over another like the meyers/chas situation. Now that Chas has solidified his starting spot, we wanna complain about his arm and **** with him some more. I bet Chas would love a trade. We have treated him like trash.
meyers is not an everyday player. Last year and this year prove that like a mofo. I agree with benching maldy for diaz
I'm one of the biggest Chas fans here, but if we could get a great centerfielder and play Chas at left, that would be ideal. I'm against playing Alvarez in left other than letting him get some exercise or in defensive situations where we need his arm.
Bellinger will be one of us if he out on Astros uniform, fan favorite or not. I will cheer for anyone in Astros uniforms. It really doesn’t bother me with what opposing players said about 2017 in the past anymore. You want opposing fans to move on from the scandal, we should too. Saying that, I think a bat is not a priority for this team. Pitching, pitching, and more pitching would be my top 3 priorities at trade deadline.
Yep, after making a catch that saved Dusty's butt and finally got Dusty his 1st ring, Dusy repays Chas by benching Chas opening day. SMH

If we could get Stroman, Hader, and Bellringer, without giving up Gilbert, Diaz, and our top 2 pitching prospects, I would be estatic. Don't want to give up JP either.
I think we need another catcher on the roster. If maldy has to play, it would be nice to have a backup catcher without losing our DH spot which has happened twice recently late in games.
