I voted 33-36, but after seeing two summer league games, I could see 40+. I think Amen and Cam are going to have a major impact. Smith and Eason are a load to deal with. The new guys will contribute. With a new coach to put it all together, could get interesting. I am ready to be surprised.

Rockets will surprise a lot of people. It's a flaw to see this as an improvement of x games over last year.

It's a completely different team in so many ways.

I predict 40-45 games.

This is based on net talent addition alone and not accounting for coaching improvement from Silas to Udoka, or internal growth from Jalen, Sengun, Jabari etc.

I understand going from 22 wins to 40 wins is a massive jump, but it’s worth noting that a whopping 20 of 30 teams won 40 games last year. That’s in part due to more parity in the the top half of the league, and partly due to tanking causing less parity in the bottom half of the league.

If like most recent years, there are ~6 teams trying to lose, all the Rocket have to do to get near the 40 win mark is be better than a few of the worst teams not trying to lose on purpose. Remember even Dallas was tanking at the end of last year.

It’s proably a decent bet we fall a little short, but I think we will be knocking on the door of 40 wins in the most likely case, just based on the current dynamics of the league. I think our team got meaningfully better from coaching, vets, and growth of our core, but literally just trying organizationally to win because we dont have our pick, and thus have no choice, will make a difference too.

 

Feeling a lot less teams are going to blatantly tank next season like this year because there is no prospect close to Wemby next year.

But these type of jumps you are talking about aren't unprecedented.

The biggest disconnect is I don’t think many people see Fvv as worth 11.38 wins. You have people on here comparing him to kpj or flat out calling him trash. Fvv is incredibly underrated and by far the team’s best player in the foreseeable future. Any kind of advanced metric that measure winning has him comparable to Harden, sga, Brunson, Mitchell, Booker, kyrie etc, the elite guards. Why is there no Franchise player thread for him?
