I just noted in another thread that CNBC has moved Minnesota ahead of Texas in ranking of business friendly states.

Minnesota is dominated by Democrats and just passed several progressive laws including laws protecting Trans people and access to abortion.

Wait a minute... Two things happened? Then it MUST be a causal relationship.

The land anchor is on is probably worth more than the company. It's a nice sob story against unions tho.

How is that fighting "white supremacy" thing going to unionize when nobody has jobs now ? Some businesses really don't need to unionize if it means not existing js

This is a pretty good run-down of what happened.

I'm a dedicated Anchor drinker since I first had a pint of their steam in North Beach in the summer of 1990. I've really liked their Liberty Ale, their Porter, their Barley wine, and even some of the Xmas beers.

Those of us who loved them in town -- and I mean, I would stop by the brewery and get a nice sampler 12-pack on occasion, talking to people who worked there -- we knew the gig was up in 2017 when the behemoth Sapporo took them over. So sad. Everything changed.

The unionization was just one last gasp by the long-time faithful in the company to save it from terrible management, but the die was cast.

This right wing spin, again against San Francisco, is so weird in this case. It would be like blaming the people of Lufkin, TX, for all the foreign companies that bought our their paper mills and sold them off for parts. Okay, I guess, but a stretch?

(shrug) please don't let me interrupt y'all's obsession with the town where some of us actually live and work and enjoy ourselves.
I'd never let another place live rent free in my head that way. Just, why? But to each their own forms of bile, and I know some of you have marching orders to dutifully follow.

Its easier for those types to twist a story to blame WOKE for a company's failure than to actually search for the whole truth behind the story. Lazy minds are easily fooled.

I guess you didn't read where Sapporo cut the hell out of wages. The union fought to get wages higher, but they didn't reach the level they were before Sapporo took over. They also cut staff and put in needlessly expensive automation. They changed the iconic logo. They stopped making the seasonal beer the company was known for.You really think a wage increase for 65 employees ruined the company? Correlation does not equal causation. Luckily Stone Brewing is much bigger than Anchor. It make take them a few more years to destroy Stone.

Thank you. You should have seen just the whole morale and vibe of the place plummet after 2017.
Amazing how the narratives are just completely information-proof, LOL. We shouldn't even bother anymore.

I'll just stick to joke threads about sea otters when discussing where I live.
