Tough loss…But looking fwd to see rested Javier tonite. Hope he can turn it around and stros can win this series
Ohtani could save us. A good #2 starter / great #3 who can eat innings and a Top 5 bat who can extend leads and give HL guys some rest. He makes it easier for Javier to get rest too. I'm assuming Framber isn't injured more than one start and Yordan and Altuve return. Best offense in baseball and a Top 3 pitching staff
Tonight is Javier's biggest start of 2023. If he's ineffective with 12 days rest, he's likely done as a legitimate starter until late-August, And that's assuming he gets more rest before then.
I'd rather see Dubon play 2nd and Altuve DH when Altuve returns. I'd put Dubon at 2nd, Alvarez in left, and Altuve as DH.
That wasn’t Dustys fault but I’ve said the same thing in every comeback loss mounted against us..him desperately trying to squeeze every single out from the starters to persevere the bullpen has ended up backfiring and forced them to use arms in extra innings anyway. Framber giving up those runs in the 7th could’ve been avoided. Should never take any big lead for granted..
I know Maldy led the league in passed balls last year but his ones this season have been absolute backbreakers. This team used to be healthy and talented enough to get away with it but their is almost no margin for error now. His deficiencies are becoming more and more glaring. Dusty will go down with the Maldy ship despite how bad it gets.
Not me. They have been disappointing this year, but they are still better at defense than our subs. Maybe we need a new batting coach. Pena should have improved, and Bregman has declined at the plate since the cheating scandal.
More importantly who’s replacing Pena and Bregs? With Maldy, there’s a superior player in every capacity already on the team. It’s not about blaming Maldy for everything, it’s about not making clear and obvious improvements to a team that is desperate for them.
If Brown can add a starter and a reliever the pitching will be set to make a run when Altuve/Alvarez get healthy.
I wasn't being fair really. He actually got better the next 2 years after the cheating scandal. I don't know what happened to him since 2019 though. His hitting has dropped from .296 to .238.
Maybe he benefited from having a more stacked lineup around him? Granted not saying they should have retained those guys, but Springer, prime Altuve, better Correa, better Yuli, rookie Yordan is a better surrounding core than what he’s had since. he still has the eye. Just not as fast to the ball over an entire season.
