I mean there is a reason why the contract is severely criticized. Also the contract is a product of the new CBA rules and the Rockets having the most money to spend. The new rule puts a minimum amount you can spend on players. The Rockets had to reach that minimum per the rules. So they had to pay someone to reach that minimum. Brooks and FVV are very lucky to be free agents this off-season.
I can count 4 players who are happy to play together. I'm sure there are more, and we will see more teamwork this season, esp @ defense. Jabari may be in this list, but that doesn't mean anything. Over the course of the season we all witnessed how he developed his offense. I know it doesn't mean much, but he's dominating the summer league right now. We should be sure this will carry over into the season. He was a great pick. I know he will prove his worth in a few months, against legitimate NBA players. Another thing I like about him is that he was one of the couple of guys who bared his fangs at teammates and held them accountable. (His own shortcomings are irrelevant.) In short, Jabari yay!
Jabari was a 19 year old rookie thrown into the fire as part of a plan to tank. This thread is garbage.
He’s the only guy on that list that was a rookie. Seems relevant. Not the same as Terry Rozier being on that list at this stage of his career, for example…or Dillon brooks for that matter. Leave Bari alone.
Bari is a known trash talker, he does not need anyone here to defend him, he does a good job at defending himself.
Did they have to give them a 3rd and 4th year though? If you have to spend money, why not give someone a shorter deal, I can not imagine someone telling brooks 3/60 and Rockets had to add a year to win his services. How much is the fine for not meeting the min? I think you could just overpay a vet for one year to get around this. Maybe paying KJ and building some goodwill.
I think these are reasonable criticisms. Also I'm not sure how true the story of Brook Lopez fooling Stone is true but that's a bad look if so.
Patrick Beverley recently said that half the players in the NBA dont even like playing basketball, and if you watch the Jokic presser after he won the championship he admitted he doesnt like basketball and it is just a job for him. I think the number of guys who see the game as just a job is actually fairly high. There are some guys on our team which I feel like they are just professionals doing their job, EG gave that vibe. Jabari on the other hand looks like basketball might be his life, he seems to want to compete. If you are hating on this kid or rooting against him, then I don't know why you would even watch basketball, because these are the types of guys that will be the most fun to see succeed.
I think all these guys have high character. Tari seems like a outstanding dude off the court. Very fun. Can be a bit charismatic. Jabari obviously has a grind mentality.
It's pretty mind-boggling that NO DUNKS added Poole n Bridget on their 2023-2024 MIP candidates list…even mind-boggling is didn't include Bari.
Problem he and many other C's face is with the voting now, instead of Jokic etc his up against them plus all the other Fowards in the west for an all star spot.
He was really bad. He was also 19. Let's hope he keeps on improving. There are signs he's getting it.
Ya but Westbrook is way way way past that stage of his career that got him a HOF career. Also Westbrook I assume is creating all his attempts and they aren't open catch and shoot attempts. He's got like 2 seasons in him left.
