Aroldis Chapman traded for a 5.24 ERA pitcher and a 17 year old player. Why can't the Astros do that?!?!?!?!?

Because Aroldis Chapman is a complete piece of human garbage, and I wouldn't trade your left testicle for him.

Actually Meyers has 1 more year of control than Chas.

At this point, I think Chas has earned an every day job.

Julks has drastically raised his stock and may end up having a Tommy Pham like career.

Meyers needs to start hitting, but now isn't getting PAs to get out of his slump. His defense still makes him attractive to teams though.

The 3 of them just have too similar offensive profile. One (or two) needs to be moved to improve the team in other areas.

I still would prefer to trade Julks then Meyers, but Corey is catching Jake very very quick. Chas is a distant third.

Since we're on the subject: Tommy Pham is also a POS...carry on

Tell me more about the rings?

Are they running a church social or a MLB franchise?

That’s one interesting thing is that Houston has a prospect at each major area of need.

    Lefty hitting OF: Gilbert
    Innings-eating SP: Arrighetti

They could make those 2 callups and flip a few fringey prospects for some relief help and arguably have a complete roster. But relying on rookies like that is a big risk.

Problem there is Gilbert is struggling badly at AA, if he were down there tearing it up that would probably happen

I don't see any good from trading away our farm assets for any rentals. Our farm is kind of week as it is. This year just seems like it's not going to be what we wanted. This has not been a popular take but we need to trade Tucker for a maximum haul.

Dusty gone after this season, Maldonado and Brantley gone as well. Those two contracts off the books makes us a player in free agency. I hate to say kick the can down the road until next year. But a better coach, money for free agency, and the crazy haul you get for Tucker, and the injured returning puts us in a much better position than anything we could possibly be in this year.

Not popular. Or What i want but it seems to be the most prudent decision I can think of. Only the biggest Kool Aid drinker thinks this is our year.

Dynasties win a WS, and more often than not, experience the hangover....then eventually get it going. It's a long season, and we have time to cover whatever we need. Chill. We'll be there in the end.

I hope you are right but, a void at catcher, a taxed bull pen. 3 AAAA pitchers in the rotation, an ill managed team. This does not instill much confidence in me. And If Framber is injured well that would be game over.

Again, I'm hoping to be wrong. I just see this season as a black cat kind of year. Trading Tucker gets max return in the sellers market that is this year. Each year of control you hold him the less the return.

He is not coming back when he is a free agent. Get the haul.

Meyers straight up for the best SP we can get for him. Chas and Julks have both outperformed him and OF is our organization strength. Dubon can play some OF and still have the lottery ticket in Brantley, and Yordan coming back.

This is gonna be such a tough market, it could easily yield cringey returns, so it may be best not to make a move if the prices are astronomical…maybe we remain pat and hope for the best, bring up some arms, etc, if the price is just exorbitant.

I think back to Luhnows quote (?) that the goal in MLB is to make as many playoffs as possible…it’s all so dicey in October, just gotta make it there. We’ve had a great run and hopefully it continues. Maybe not be worth giving an arm and a leg for average returns. We’ll see. I wonder if we could dump Montero but I’m guessing we just hold/hope he improves. Our arms are so clearly taxed from our long playoff run(s).

I'm not giving up on this year. Trading for Snell and Hader would solve most of the pitching issues and they have the prospects to make these deals. Chances to win championships are rare, you gotta take your shots when you're within your window. BTW, Even if they dont trade for Snell, he's a guy who I would look at bringing in this offseason in FA.

Apparently not, since the team the Stros are trying to chase down traded for Chapman.
