We're going to blame Green for our defensive coaching staff being incompetent? That's a stretch even for you. He was never going to be a plus defender, which is fine, we didn't draft him to do that.
Ah, the Silas excuse, that didn't take long.... so Green was worse than anyone else on the roster despite the team doing everything in their power to hide him on defense and it's someone else's fault? Lol, okay. What will the excuse be this time next year?
Let's hope he is tbh. I'd much rather have him grinding and sucking up to the coach and trying to get better than ignoring the coach and actin the fool.
Seriously. We want teacher pets to Ime. That means they are buying into the culture change. Anyways this is all the honeymoon phase. We will see how the young guys follow through when training camp and the season starts.
I'm pretty optimistic tbh. I don't think I've really heard much about Whitmore on that side of things but Jalen, Jabari and Amen all had gym rat reputations pre-draft, and anybody who can't see Sengun's competitive spirit is either blind or wilfully ignorant. I shouldn't even need to mention Tari. If KPJ actually has matured and turned his head around like it seems and doesn't revert and also buys in? That's an entire young core right there, all we need is 1 or more of them to truly hit all star caliber and we're cookin.
… sure, sure, but sucking up and flirting courtside of a SL game may get him an unfair edge over more asocial players. I don’t like it. This is a young team, rotation is unknown, the young guys all wanting PT to carve their place in the league… Coach should be above the fray, run a meritocracy, and not create an impression of favoritism. But I doubt it…
The single, most important skill in the NBA is the ability to generate a good look for yourself off the dribble while putting pressure on the rim. Players that do that at a efficient level can become solid play makers, even if they are unable to make advanced reeds because of the gravity acquired. For all of his warts, Jalen Green might be the best young prospect in the NBA in regards to that specific detail. We need to ride this out through the end of his fourth year and then we will know what we have and we will have the ability to match any contract offer he is given. He will be 24 years old. At that point, and still, likely not entering his prime. Personally, I am highly optimistic.
I would say it's the single most important trait for backcourt and possibly wing players. Elite big men don't have to have that trait
No one had great numbers... but no one was as pathetic as Jalen Green defensively despite the team doing everything they could to hide him on that side of the ball. Look kid, I know your love for him is blind, but pick your battles better.
.... and yet none were anywhere near as bad as Green despite all the attempts to hide him on that side of the ball. He had the easiest matchups, yet still performed the worst. Everyone knows Jalen is one of the worst defensive players in the league, his own team knew it after his rookie season, no amount of cope or spin will change that.
We'll see how the team grows now that we have a coaching staff and system that was not designed to tank.
