Is anybody surprised that the top two organizations had Luhnow in common? Or that nobody else is even close?

I think it's a stretch to say that St.Louis and Luhnow have anything in common regarding drafts from 2015+

Since 2011 was his last season there many of his people and much of his influence were likely gone.

But that's just a guess. I didn't look at Cardinal front office staff from 2015+

Can one (or more) of the members who follow the farm system closely please post a brief up/down of pitchers who are generally considered top 30ish prospects on the various lists?

I am interested in who has improved or hurt their trade value leading up to the deadline.

    Thank you kindly.

They were caught stealing info from us (Luhnow) in addition to whatever effect was left too.

My assessment of Houston’s pitching prospects values heading into the deadline:

    Tier 1: None
Tier 2: Arrighetti; Arrighetti can be a key part of a big trade, but not a headliner for a multiyear regular
Tier 3: Gordon, Whitley, Dubin, Knorr, Taylor, Dombroski, Fleury, Espinosa; these guys could likely be a key part of a trade for a non-elite rental
Tier 4: Kouba, Robaina, Macuare, Tamarez, Solis, Melendez, Ullola, Gusto, DeVos, Santa, Guilfoil, Urias; these are guys other teams would be interested in as throw-ins.

Forrest Whitley, Alex Santos II, and Jaime Melendez have seen their stock go down pretty dramatically this season. Arrighetti has seen his stock go up quite a bit. Lots of other guys have raised their stock but not enough to make them elite prospects at this point. The 2022 draftees (Taylor, Dombroski, DeVos, Guilfoil, Blubaugh, Knorr), Fleury, and Espinosa will be in position to make big jumps next season, and of course this year’s draftees will be watched closely.

Houston has very good pitching depth but has a glaring lack of the kind of pitching prospects other teams ask for when trading away good players.

What happened to Jaime Melendez? Suppose he suffered an injury of some sort.

Yes, he is hurt, not sure what the injury is but it’s obviously pretty serious given how long he’s been out.

Waner Luciano (5) and Juan Santander (2) have home runs for the FCL squad today.

Luciano has gone deep for the second consecutive day.

So many kids showing power in the complex.
Alain Pena is starting to interest me. Listed at 5’11” 155lb so should be room for him to get stronger and he’s been really effective thru both complexes so far. One to watch once he gets to full season ball.

Jose Urquidy went two innings in his first rehab start for Sugar Land and allowed a single, two unearned runs (error by Shay Whitcomb), walked one, and struck out two.

    Jose Fleury finished off a 5-2 win for the Woodpeckers: 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K

Fleury now has 90 strikeouts in 66 innings this season. Guilfoil has 61 in 42.2.

Pretty trash night for Corpus but Jacob DeLabio struck out five of the six Arkansas hitters he faced. DeLabio signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021 out of Carthage College, a Division III school in Wisconsin.

The Hooks have allowed 12 runs... on six hits.

Down in the Dominican, Karniel Pratt hit his 4th home run of the season for the Orange team.
