Come to think of it why is everybody looking to trade for an outfielder? If there is a better left fielder than Alvarez we can't afford him and nobody would be trading him anyway. If only he was a lefty....
Live in the Austin area, travel to Sugarland frequently. Houston kills Austin in all food except for BBQ Trade for snell and hader as long Gilbert stays
No you have him subbing in . I don't think Chas is a everyday Starter. Best suited as a 4th man. But that's me.
The thought on Carlson is he just needs a change. A winning culture can cure alot from a young cat. Even though he would be a back up at the moment. He could save you from being up creek with out a paddle on Tucker if he decides to go else where. Plus you still have Gilbert The fact of Carlson as a switch hitter makes it even more interesting. He just needs to get it rolling
Yes, San Antonio, Houston, and some spots in the Valley (the best spots for Tex Mex on planet earth) have better Tex Mex than Austin. How is that controversial and how does that disqualify Austin as a world class food city? I’m sure you’re super “well-connected to the food scene” whatever that means.
Yes, that would be selling low. I consider it very unlikely they trade him, but if they think he’s just a bad fit for their park/roster and another team is offering them players they like a lot, maybe they sell low.
Astros are shopping Jake Meyers and Corey Julks - and listening on Chas McCormick…. Astros want a lot for Chas. Astros have interest in Lance Lynn, James Paxton and several relievers. Told it is likely that one or two outfielders will be gone.
Both are surprisingly getting a lot of interest. Hicks because of his swing and miss stuff - and I am not sure why Lynn is, it could be teams think he won’t cost much. Several teams want Lynn and and one of the Sox relievers. Sox say they want players in the big leagues or close to it. I am curious how much value Jake Meyers has. On one hand he is a very good fielder and is capable of an OPS+ of over 100 in centerfield - on the other hand there are concerns about the bat long term.
Well yes the original comment I responded to was how Austin had more or less caught up to Houston. It has not. Not even close. Austin is on Denver’s level. That’s an apt comparison. And granted I was in college in the early aughts but let’s not act like Austin wasn’t essentially a glorified college town back then. UT was THE major influence back then. I mean the nicest spots were Fonda, Jeffrey’s and Eddie V’s. Driskill’s too. If you had better recs back then I’m all ears. Anyways I hope we trade for Robert Jr. And Cease. All also take Snell.
Do you think that a deal of Meyers/Leon/Ullola/Tamarez would be enough to get Lynn/Graveman? I'm also thinking of Hendricks from the Cubs, but I dont know the Cubs needs and I dont know their farm system.
One could argue there’s a larger gap between New Orleans and Austin then there is Houston and Austin. Thinking New Orleans is just a “cajun” destination is telling.
Ugh I threw up a little bit I’m going too be very sad if we trade Chas and it won’t improve the Astros in the slightest
I think Dana Brown is confident in his ability to rebuild the farm system. He realizes they have a strong experienced nucleus right now but they have a few holes that need to be addressed. Knowing that I think he's going to be aggressive to fill these needs at the deadline. Specifically with a TOR arm and some help in the pen.
I wonder what a package of Paxton, Verdugo, and Chris Martin would cost. Those 3 would meet Houston’s needs very nicely. Boston really has kind of a bad team and they need a lot of help if they’re gonna compete in their division anytime soon. I wonder if a package of Lee, Julks, and Arrighetti would be enough.
Lance Lynn is a strikeout veteran (among league leaders) having one of his more up and down seasons. Paxton is having a good year after missing all of 2022 which was preceded of what would be described as down years in ‘20 and ‘21 by his standards
I like those 3 but think your offer is a bit light. Generally a rental will command 1 established player or 2 prospects, unless the prospect is rated so high as to be as valuable as an established player. A player with control will be more valuable- better prospects and/or more established players. You are asking for 1 rental and 2 players w/ 1 year of control. Julks can be considered an established player, though still one of middling value. Lee and Arrighetti are both slightly above average prospects. I would expect this deal need at least 2 more legitimate prospects to work out. Maybe add Leon and Dubin?
