Trade request #3? This is ridiculous. If he wanted coming back to houston..take a pay cut. But no, he wants all the money and being on a contender. Next year we have the same scenario.
James Harden requests yet another trade after picking up $35.6 million player option https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/...0230629-v6qbg2srbzeh7nat4p7iqos3km-story.html excerpt: James Harden, the aging playmaker and expert trade demander, opted into his contract for the Sixers on Thursday because it will help facilitate a deal and he desires a relocation, according to ESPN. The Knicks and Clippers were reported as early suitors for Harden, who has requested trades from three different teams in a span of just 2 ½ years. more at the link
The Knicks are just barely starting to be decent, imagine trading for Harden to destroy the franchise and having to restart again after 10+ years of sucking....
I just loved their description of Harden: "James Harden, the aging playmaker and expert trade demander, "
By playoffs he'll be craving to hit the clubs again and fizzle out embarrassingly. Why waste another year of Embids prime and stunt Maxeys growth? Oh and Nick has a 6 man rotation
There's a huge part of the NBA takeoverse that talks frequently about the malignant influence ( or potential influence ) of James Harden on a team, making him out to be some form of Falstaffian blackguard who will abandon your prized 18 yo prospect in the VIP room at 3 AM with the bill on the first night of a b2b, meanwhile when he bothers to drag his paunchy self onto the court, will abandon them to their own devices whie hogging the jukebox, but simultaneously not shooting enough and leading the league in assists Notably this group almost never includes any of his current teammates or forner teammates and almost entirely includes pasty white ESPN/Ringer etc take mavens
James Harden Reiterates Trade Request Despite Possible 'Path To Reconciliation' With Sixers James Harden expected to be traded when he opted in to his $35.6 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, but a trade has yet to materialize and he now appears more likely to remain with the franchise than be traded. Harden prefers a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers, but the two sides haven't had serious talks. "No," said Ramona Shelburne when asked if Harden is any closer to being traded. "I don't think they're close on anything. "James Harden has spoken with Daryl Morey since the first trade request. I think there was some cooling off period. 'Okay, let's let this lie and see how things play out.' They've spoken again and he's still reiterated he wants to be traded. This isn't a demand, it's a request. "The Sixers have said 'Okay, we will try to trade you, but there's no hurry to do this.' I think the Sixers understand here they have the leverage here. James has picked up his option. This is an opt-in to a contract. He's going to be a free agent after this season. At some point, he needs to play. Whether that's in Philadelphia or elsewhere. "Plus, there is a sense that if they can give it some time. And he's cool with his teammates. He's been talking to Joel Embiid. He's been talking to Patrick Beverley. PJ Tucker. Eventually, maybe those fences can be mended and there's a path to reconciliation with James Harden. But, for now, he's reiterated his trade request." Harden's issues with the Sixers appears to be financial with the front office. "I'll just be clear with you: he felt betrayed," added Shelburne. "He felt like he was going to get a max extension from them either last year and decided 'Okay, I'll leave some money on the table.' And then this year when they were not communicating with him before free agency, because they have the largest tampering fine in league history. But generally speaking, there was no wink or not saying we're going to take care of you. He got upset and that's why he opted in rather than letting it play out and reach free agency."
Harden can't use the fat suit this time because it's contract year. He needs to perform well enough to have any hope of getting a max type deal. Once he opted in, all the leverages are in Morey's hand.
Passive aggressive bum went from quitting and demanding trade to “requesting a trade” to try and salvage his irreparable image. Nobody wanted to pay him not even Morey. Clippers don’t even want to give up marginal players like Norm Powell or a role player like Terance Mann. Even the slow people finally caught on to his bs. Only Pat Bev living as if it’s 2017 wants him to stay dropping “I love you’s” lol. Gonna be sad to see Embiid waste another prime year with a 34, 35 and 38 year old.
