It seems pretty ageist (not to mention ignorant) to believe older people can't change or be pragmatic.
It has nothing to do with age. It has to do with generational issues and an understanding of living in different time periods. I would rather be ignorant than a condescending jackass 24/7
So you're saying old people can't learn and adapt and understand modern times. That's still ageist (and ignorant). Try again. And yet, you worship one. Or two, really.
He's done some good things sharing the spotlight with the younger folks like Pete or Kamala. It's still his show though... One noteworthy strength of Biden is the roladex (iphone wut?) of friends and credit accrued in his years of Congress. How many terms does that take? More than Cruz or Rubio? Definitely more than Kamala or Obama (shunned). Joe even counts McConnell among his good friends. Hilary had a right balance and even took over the DNC in that timeframe, waiting her turn and biding her time... Obama's strategy was to jump in early because track records become liabilities on the election circuit. But without once in a generation charisma, folks like mayor Pete or Amy Klobuchar get overshadowed by geriatrics like Warren, Bernie or even Hilary. They get buried in DNC hierarchy waiting in line... Quite a pickle among Dems who want good young leaders.
Yeah no. I am not sure why you are so dead set on being so arrogant and obstinance. If you can't understand a particular generation can have a complete different world view than the opposite generation, that is a comprehension issue on your end. If you feel the need to be self-righteous and label me an ageist, feel free. There are three generations of people who are ready for a change.
It’s a pickle for sure but mostly because the presidency now has become more of a celebrity or American Idol type of contest game show instead of what the framers intended… or especially what George Washington did a great job of showing America what it was supposed to be. The best thing about Biden is he is a reminder of what the intent was. Boring legislator who has the lifelong relationships, a ton of experience, and has nothing to lose or gain. Just service to the country as a final legacy. One of the only requirements the constitution gives is age. There’s something to be said about that. In 2024 Trump has everything to gain by winning and holding the presidency the rest of his life. If you care about Democracy and our constitutional republic that should scare the living daylights out of you.
Ready for a change? Dude we literally elected a young republican governor in bush who led us to disaster after disaster. Bush/Obama/Trump were literally the three worst presidents on foreign policy without a doubt. What are you talking about? Biden for being in his 80s is actually focusing on what matters which is deterring china and not having our troops bogged down in the middle east. Bush lied us into a war and cost us trillions of dollars and thousands of dead american lives Obama was a disaster on many fronts and was cucked by the military to keep the military in the middle east and not focus on China. Ask anyone and they'll tell you how bad obama was esp when it comes to the indo pacific. He literally refused to talk to our allies Trump was well you know trump. This is the first time in decades we actually have a foreign policy team and agenda. AUKUS and all the other major diplomatic initiatives like the chip exports and others were only done under biden. The one place where even republicans are praising biden is in his approach to China. Hes killing it with our allies right now.
It is one of the great questions about Napolean. I hope they deal with it in the upcoming Ridley Scott movie.
Biden's personality still bothers me and I find his style at times out of touch and creepy. There is no doubt that he is a very effective President when it comes ot legislature and policy. Also the Presidency isn't just one single person but is a team and Biden has surrounded himself with much younger people. I don't think in my lifetime I've seen a presidency that has been able to get so much legislation and major policy passed with bipartisan support.
Because their base is uneducated in these matters and just believe what they say. Either that or they themselves are dumb as rocks on matters they should be experts on.
It's understandable why Ukraine wants and will use cluster munitions. If we gave Ukraine WMD they might use them also. They are fighting a war of survival versus an enemy that indiscriminately kills. We support Ukraine for a variety of reasons but we aren't directly fighting this war. As we've seen from the beginning there are many questions about what and when we supply Ukraine. There is good reason why many including our allies oppose the use of cluster munitions and us supplying them while it isnt us using them we are sanctioning their use.
Since I'm a big history nerd I was thinking about a historic paralell between Zelensky and the US Revolutionaries. George Washington was very frustrated with the French who often seemed to slow walk support to the Continental military and wouldn't given him everything he wanted. Benjamin Franklin would frequently appeal to the French Court asking for everything from thimbles to the ships of the line. Or the equivalent of Ukraine asking us for the most advanced fighter planes. Like with the US now there was much debate in France about what it should supply to Americans with much popular support for the US cause but caution within the court. What also wasn't known to Washington and the Continental Congress was that France saw the conflict in much larger terms and were attacking the British in places as far away as Egypt and India. They saw the American Revolution as a part of an overall war against a longterm adversary. What was happening in the American colonies was weakening the British like how many see Ukraine as longterm weakening of Russia. One caution for the US from this historical paralell is that at the end of the Revolutionary war the US largely sidelined the French in negotiations with Britian and the French didn't get as much benefit out of their commitment to the US. They didn't get favorable trade and fishing rights in areas around the colonies. If Ukraine does eventually prevail there will be a lot of issues around the rebuilding of Ukraine and reestablishment of agriculture and industrial trade in the region. The US might need to be careful not to end up like France in 1782.
Other than Obama, it's been the same generation that has been running this country for decades. GW is 77. AGAIN. This isn't about age. Like Major, you're being obstinate for the same of being obstinate. Congress approved the Iraq war. If Congress was dumb enough to believe the WMD narrative, they should have never been elected. We went to war because both parties turned into war mongers. The 'lie' was an excuse. Biden got us involved with the biggest war since Vietnam in less time Bush got us involved with Iraq. Anyone not NATO is distancing itself from the US. This isn't Bidens fault but he certainly isn't the great global united you're fantasizing about. The world is in more turmoil than ever. I don't understand why you worship this guy.
You are on point. The French were indeed fighting a much bigger war than the squirmishes going on in America. I disagree that modern Russia is the great global empire similar to the British empire during that time period. United States is the great modern global empire and its empire status is under attack and being eroded away. The British weren't evil anymore than modern America is evil.
Again anyone who thinks biden got us involved in the biggest war literally has brain worms. Like seriously why are you so stupid about this topic when its been explained to you a million times. You're literally no different then the MAGA trolls cuz you're just disingenuous and a loser. Biden has removed all combat troops from iraq Biden pulled the plug on Afghan scam Biden cut back on 99% of done/air strikes and has gotten zero credit from the anti war morons After all of this you somehow blame biden for ukraine you're a idiot and thats not surprising you probably are one. Brain worms dominates this website.
GW Bush wasn't 77 when he was elected President. He was 54. Obama and Clinton were both in their 40's when elected. And again it was Russia that invaded Ukraine. In fact Biden warned Putin several times not to invade Ukraine. Also unlike Vietnam or Iraq there aren't US ground forces fighting in Ukraine.
True Russia isn't as powerful as the British. The US is the superpower and rather than US power being eroded given that NATO and US alliances are only gettting stronger.
