I don’t think it was an overreaction when some of us got nervous about how Jabari looked the first half of the first game and I don’t think it’s an overreaction to be excited now. More important than anything in evaluating young prospects is rate of improvement, not whether the player is necessarily good or bad. You compare Jabari’s numbers in summer league now vs last year and it is almost double. I think it is ok to question how good will any of this translate vs nba competition, but there is no doubt that he has improved vs last year. Jabari was the worst player on the team last year, and the biggest question mark in the starting lineup going into this year, if he’s taking a second year leap that makes me feel a lot better about our chances next year.
Players get better. All your favs where a second year player at some point. They improved. This happens literally every damn year. Jabari got better. Now shut up and enjoy it
It’s true you failed to see the big picture, nobody is saying that the Rockets are going to the playoffs because Jabari and the other guys are playing well. INDIVIDUALLY, each players have worked on their CRAFT this summer and have improved. Amen has all the qualities to be a STAR in this league. Jabari is now showing: shooting, play making abilities and defense to be a STAR in this league. You’re Casual
Don’t let their overhype distract from the fact that our second year guys played phenomenal and that’s a positive. Especially Jabari who didn’t really meet expectations last year. I am very excited to see how this team plays this year. Guys had to take some kind of development leap next year, with or without Silas. It’s good to see they didn’t regress or play easy since they’re already guaranteed minutes. he was most certainly not “the worst player on the team last year.” Everything else is a good take. Jabari underwhelmed for his draft position but he was a rookie. He played fine. And improved in second half of season.
I don't need to chill. Don't tell me what to do. inject the hype directly into my veins Jabari will be an all star tari will be an all star Amen is going to be a legit two-way PG Whitmore will be a 20 PPG spark plug off the bench Sengen will be Jokic Green will be Kobe Go Rockets!
Yeah but there's clearly people who would prefer Sengun to be the star rather then Green etc. I couldn't care less as long as we end up developing or singing/trading for one.
@Sengoat28 but you morons were calling Sengun Jokic after one no look pass he had in SL. I understand that it’s hard to get excited right now bc you’re a player only fan, and your guy isn’t playing now.
The gold standard is Larry Bird. Team was 29-53, drafted Larry and went 61-21 with ole coach Fitch for first place. LeBron won 35 games 1st season, 42 his second finally broke 50 his third year. Shaq took won 41 his first season for 4th place in Atlantic. He got a second place finish his second season with a 50 and 32 record. But I do agree with your point we have lots of good young talent. It takes time to develop it and see which one actually turns into a star. Jabari really has great attitude and work ethic he seems to have the clutch gene too we'll see. Reminds me of back when the Mavericks had Jason Kidd Jamal Mashburn Jim Jackson and George McCloud. They had a lot of young Talent but never figured it out. Hopefully this team does.
Signed, James Wiseman..... lol. Smith's 2 games haven't just been running around scoring. He has shown that ability to run the team and dominate. Chalk and cheese from last year - which is what we all want to see. Let's face it, he is still younger than half the guys picked in the first round of this year's draft! Also, nobody else is averaging 35 a game, so let Jabari have his moment?
